Magnet Repel not working?

Hi! I am having issues with magnet repeling and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if it's a bug. When I repel from a magnet, I only go as far as I regularly go, I even tested it by repeling from a switched off magnet, then turning it on and repelling from it, and I went the same distance.

Are you holding down your jump button? I had the same problem, but I can get further if I keep holding down the jump button until I start to drop
