Charging $60 bucks for a 14 year old game is insane
Expected 30 or maybe even 40 but charging a full price of a game that came out 14 years ago with the same gameplay intact and slightly updated graphics is not it.

They are crazy to think this game will sell well with that price.

I agree with Slayer that the price could be lower, but I have a little different reason, if the game sells poor, DEVS/Studio will abandon it and there will be no DLC/next game, just look at Crash4, fantastic game, sold under expected number Crash5 apperently canceled. There are a lot of good platformers that are cheaper, also those who play game like this know that the best one always were on nintendo systems, this is multisystem game, those are always cheaper. Setting 60 bucks on 14 years old game mean a lot of us will just wait for sale, but the game itself will not get any futher work done. I don't know the market but I don't think there are millions of Disney fans, especially novaday, that will spit out 60 bucks, I hope I'm wrong and the game does fantastic, but overpricing your target consumers never ends well. Oh I just remebered, good example, concord was paid game in the category where game are free to play, they did not sell that well. Price does matter, and saying "you broke" only mean you don't care if the game does good/bad, but some of us do.

I can feel this. It does feel like an overconfident move pricing it at $60. However, I also don't know the behind the scenes decision making that goes into this, but my gut tells me the plan is to release at $60, scoop up everyone who can't wait, drop to $40-$50 a couple months after launch and hopefully make their real sales. I think that's a bad move because they are squandering their launch window, but I'm not in the industry so I don't know.

I can understand your point of view. Yes it might be a high price considering that the game is old. Especially if you compare it to the $40 tag their other games got at release.

But, they've completely revamped the game and improved on it. It's not a lazy port. And the devs (in my books at least) have proven that they're worth the price they're asking for their games. I am willing to pay $60 if I know the quality + fun factor is there. And in my opinion, Purple Lamp is worth it.

Like truly?

As in brand new hand made 3D assets from the ground up, or did they touchup/4k upscale or 4k redraw the assets?

In-game assets are brand new. You can find comparisons online, see here, for example:

It's a steal at twice the price. What are you talking about?

Once again, Steam forums prove a completely pointless place to even attempt to have a discussion. You're all so hostile and frankly childish. I wish Steam forums would just shut down.

So...don't read them. It's amazing how many "problems" can be solved simply by not interacting with them.

Guys do not be stupid do not buy this game for that crazy price! This money farming trend pissing me off, remaster of Days gone, remaster of Horizon zero dawn, remaster of price at first!

It is ridiculous but it is the state of the game industry now. Just wait for the 50% sale I guess

While this is a remake in terms of the work involved, it definitely is still quite faithful to the game design from 14 years ago based on the general feedback so far so charging full price is unfair. That said, this is a Disney property so cash grab attempts, licensing and excuse-making fans are probably what the execs are hoping would allow such a price point to fly.

Yes & no. To some people this charge is a non-issue either way. Is it worth it? Maybe not, but the sum of money is still tiny to some.

doesn't matter how affordable something is, overpaying is overpaying. I could afford an apple for $8, it won't break the bank, but I'd have to be pretty dumb or pretty desperate for an apple to pay $8 for it.

in marketing, sometimes you just balance out the prices. consider clothing: you use different amounts of fabric for different sizes but it would feel unfair to charge the bigger person more money than the smaller guy for the same thing in a different size so they set a fixed price for all sizes to account for that. Video games are the same way. Some games cost more to make than others but people don't want to keep just paying more and more money year after year as the tech gets better and more money is invested in making good new games so the price has settled to $60 for new games, generally speaking in the current landscape and they'll make business decisions with that in mind.

big & tall sizes often cost more
