Here's what I'm hoping for.
- Visuals that don't lose what made the original's atmosphere/art direction so strong and effective. It had a lot of heart, soul and wonder (the kind we felt as kids growing up with disney), but also a good sense of danger and loss (like, things have been drained of their soul, left in ruin).
Make sure this is also consistent for each platform it's on, including Switch.
- Better controls. Both in the camera, platforming, and paint. But this seems like it's obviously being taken care of.
- Voice acting. Voice acting for talking to NPCs and especially cutscenes would be a huge improvement.
- Maintain good difficulty. Maybe this was my memory as a kid, but I remember a good sense of tension through a lot of the gameplay. Hazards, enemies, the platforming and combat have me a challenge that I happily accepted. Really fit the mood/tone this game was going for of a more serious approach with stakes.
- A good hint system. Many times for quests, or just trying to figure out what I need to do on a map or on a puzzle, I was fairly lost for a long while. Obviously, it was probably because I was just my little self, but you'll still get a young audience buying your remaster/remake of this, so giving them a hint system that isn't too easy to use would really help them be less stuck.

Any features/aspects you guys are hoping for?

Voice acting will not be included, but the original dialog noises will be recycled.

That SUCKS. If they're gonna improve the controls, like they did with the sequel, why not also do what the sequel did, and add voice acting?
I still don't know why the original didn't have it either.

If I had to give my fair share:
The morality system was underbaked in the orignal game. Not saying that it wasn't good but needed a bit more consideration when it was implemented.

Maybe make the NPCs in hubs like Mean Street be afarid of Mickey if they choose to use thinner on important characters like The Clock Tower or Peteronic or be more enthusiastic when Mickey use paint to restore said charatcers. As well as possibly brining back the concept of Mickey's apparance changing over the game depending on his choices in game.

Another thing is Pins. They didn't really had any significance in the game at all besides marking what you did. What I think pins in the Remake should now do is unlock upgrades. Not just give Mickey more Health or Sketches but also make his paint and thinner more stronger or give him faster movement speed and a bigger ground pound. I think a good place for this is The Museum on Mean Street. In the orignal it was barely used at all besides a quest or 2. I would imagine the keeper of the Musume would now give upgrades in return of the pins you gather along the way to display in the Museum.

Lastly I think the gaurdians would better work as hints than to guide the player to certain areas. A good majority of the game's areas do not the help of the gaurdians to find where to go and sometimes are just pointless. I think gaurdians now should tell mickey some tips on an area he is in to solve puzzles or to find chests with important items like the animatronic parts.

Some interesting ideas here. Thank you, folks!

I prefer no voice acting, glad to hear that's not changing. The closer to the original (outside of technical improvements) the better!

I would like some difficulty settings, but it is highly unlikely to make it into the game.

.

If I remember correctly, I think it was Disney itself that was against the idea of the changing appearance as they are quite protective of the IP. Would have loved to see this though

Of course voice acting would be included.

As you can see in the free demo, no. The game follows the original in that regard.
