What do you mean by mission? Are you playing Single Mission or Career?

im playing the carrer, i exit patrol and hit return to base when it tole me to, and it said you passed the mission ans stuff but it just keeps trying to make me restart

I don't get what are you trying to say. If you are playing on Career, game goes on until war ends. So basically after first patrol, you are not finished. Until the war ends, you need to keep do your patrols many times. Concept of Mission 1 or Mission 2 can't be applied here.

what i mean is i finished mission one, went too i think al 36 for 24 hours and back, and i didnt sink anyship along the way, and when i go under missions in the room with 3 desk it says just that one mission anywhere i click its just stays on that one mission and its like it wants me to restart

Okay even though I am not from States, I can tell your grammar is bad... Anyway, in career mode there is no such thing as 'mission'. You can sail out anytime and deck your boat at the harbor anytime. There will be objectives that you will need to fullfill. Do that, and new objectives will be updated. If you are at the u-boat base and back from first patrol, just go for second patrol.

BTW you don't have to come back to the base everytime when you finish the objective. Use radio or wait for little bit and you will get a new objective from Kreigmarine U-boat Headquarters. When you get new objectives, you can move on to the new one right away.

tbh, the patrol orders aren't really important in SH3. It's been a while since I played, but I don't think you get any career points or anything for completing assigned patrols. I just used them as historical flavour. If the High Command tells you to go off to the middle of nowhere and you ignore it and sink 20 ships somewhere else, they won't mind :)

Actually, in vanilla SH3, you'll gain renown points when you accomplish the patrol grid goal. But I don't know how many.
