Silent Hunter III

Silent Hunter III

Where are the enemies?
I have been playing a career starting in 1939 for a while now. Currently on my 9th patrol. I have not ran into a single enemy ship the entire time. I have seen one enemy scout plane, but that is it. I am running the GWX 3.0 mod, if that changes how many enemies are on the water or something. I want to sink some stuff, this is awfully boring...

Check your radio message, sometimes HQ will tell the last location of enemy convoy or task force. Or if you head to the objective area and patrol sometimes you will get to see nice task force or convoy to attack.

if you are using JSGME check it for a mod related with "black sea campains" if it is enabled you can't able to find and encounter with any enemy shipping in other seas i mean english channel, atlantic and north sea...

Often, BdU assigns you to a patrol grid in the middle of nowhere. You are not going to lose renown points if you don't get there in GWX. So, just ignore it and head for high traffic areas, like the English Channel and the Irish Sea.

Thanks, Benner. I have been hunting in the English Channel, but still nothing. I'll keep looking.

Try to sneak into an enemy harbour, like Dover. If there isn't any ship there, your GWX or game installation might be corrupted. If so, try reinstalling them.

Yea, it might be corrupted. I snuck into a harbour on the East Coast of England, however the only hostiles I encountered was the single plane I mentioned before, as well as some defence bunkers on the shores near the harbour. Despite being seen and fired at, no enemy destroyers or anything came. I don't know if that's normal or not, though.

This game came out at least 6 years ago. They didn't support 1920x1080 at the time. Try to find high resolution mod for SH3.

OP, on patrol open your map, where you can plot your course. Look at the very top left of your screen. There are 4 documents "hidden" in that corner that you can click+drag down to look at. One of them has a green border, and is a map of known convoy routes all over the world. Look at places where 2 or more routes converge, and patrol in that area. You might have to go a day or two, but that's how you find the major (10+ ships) convoys at sea. Ireland's north coast is a high traffic area as well. Good Hunting.

All I did was install the game, launch it and start a patrol once (may be unecessary), download every GWX part, put them all in the same folder, and then ran the installer.

I recently had that happen to me. I believe it was a mod (can't remember which one) that caused the problem. I was on my second mission and never saw a single boat. I ran JSGME, removed a mod, and started again. Bingo, ships everywhere.
