Inside Submarine
Hi.
I have never played this game before and am thinking of buying it but i wanted to know. . can you explore your submarine from the inside (like in a 1st person point of view)? I've always wondered if you could do it in this game.

Somewhat. You can go to different locations, with people doing their jobs in them, in full glorious 3D.

There is a mod which lets you "walk" - i.e. move the camera as in an FPS throughout the sub's room.

But there are only 2 main rooms, really.

Google for images, you will see.

ok thanks. Are the other silent hunter games any different (in terms of 1st person inside sub)?

SH4 and 5 but I would not buy them just for that. SH3 is considered by many to be the apex of the series including myself.

Silent Hunter IV seems more detailed in that regard.
But Silent Hunter V tried to do this much more seriously. On the other hand the 5'th game is probably the worst one!

SH 5 allows you to move freely around the submarine, has much better graphics but it is too arcady for any simulator fans...

OMG Rocco! 790 hours on a sub simulator?!? Is it that good?

I think it is. But I'm just really into submarine stuff. Sorry for the late reply.

No you can't explore inside the sub, just quick move from station to station. As for the other Silent Hunter games, Silent hunter 5 is the only one that makes it possable to "walk around" the sub. You can walk to the aft section, to the Bow section, watch the guys load torpeidos. Talk with certain people (how ever the convers is very limited and repeating), climb the conning tower ladder to the conning section and up that ladder to the bridge. You can also climb down the conning tower exterior ladder by the 20mm gun to get on the main sub deck, and also can walk to the very end aft section and to the 88mm gun as well the very end of the bow (I usally do this when I am leaving the harbor to make sure I don't hit anything because once the sub hull is damage, it stays that way untill you get another boat).

However they only use all type 7's and I lean to type 9's. And the game play is based on senerio of campaing duration per year instead of open patrol to war's end like SH3. I wish they did this like SH3. It's a cool game anyway, I play it once in awhile. But I don't use the steam version I use the direct Uplay download. Because in order to play it you have to have a internet connection at all times because it works out of Uplay, one of the draw backs I do not care for. I saw no point in having to be up on Steam and Uplay...
Just to say This game (and I have played 100s) is easily the best game ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!
