There is no re-bind, also This isn't that kind of game. It is a mouse point and click type of game. So by default there is no re-mapping. However there are short cut keys... I have a guide called "Silent Hunter 3 Basics...". In this guide all the way at the bottom, above the comments, is a pic of the short cut keys that are used. The short cut keys makes it possable for you to do actions quicker.. like "P" for periscope depth or "S" for serface. Other than that, the mouse you will have to work around to the stations..

It is a simple here as it is for SH4. So really, the controller is pointless here even for a healthy person. SH5 may be a little differnt, in that game it is more so fps, so I can kinda of see it in there, but the controller may not work.

After all, the PS4/X-box controller is over rated. The dev useing that as a altimant controller are small time or steam dev that made their games on laptops were they merit best, and asume since they do, everyone else dose too.. Which is not the case...

I played sh3 for over thousands hours non steam version and sh5 with a lot of mods I know what sh is.
But you can remap the controller with pc Programms like joy2key
Which which I also could map the mouse to a stick but I wanted to ask if anyone got maybe a thought to that or maybe even mapped things like depth control to one stick

I do not understand your question at all then. Because if you have played any of thease games, then you know there is NO option for controller re-map.. Any controller useing the same key as mouse is through default share resorce only.

Means the function on the joystick that uses the same function from the mouse is shared. Joysticks are shared mouse resorce with more functions. PS4 and X-BOX controllers do not, they are a differnt unit all togeather. Not much shares the same mouse or keyboard resorce. You have to experiment that yourself.. And if you know that to, what was the real reason of the post then..

and you know there are programms like i said joy2key which assing a button press on the gamepad a specific function like a spacebar press or the right stick movement for accerlating the mouse to the right... and i didn't asked for a programm i asked if anyone already tried it and can recoommned in which way (because like i already said you can map it in every way the controller is able to) its the best way for them for silent hunter

And like I said before, there is no option in the game to change the layout. I personaly never had a problem with the default arrangment, its all point and click. Why would I use a controller for the same action I do with a mouse plugin and keyboard. I plug in a usb mouse to the laptop and off I go.

If you enjoy the 360 controller that much, then it is a "YOU" thing. If you can't find a mod that already has this, then make one. In the the silent hunter directory is the main data files, here is the info dbase files to make the game work, go into the data file folder, look for the cfg folder and go there. Then find the files Commands_de or Commands_en. make a copy of the one that your set to. Then use a text editor and go through it. This is were the controls are mapped. If you know what the code layout for the controller is, do your changes there and see if it works. If it works without issues, put it up as the first mod for the controller ref this game..

I do not know what else to say to you regarding this but that...

You obviously dont read properly because of you did... you would understand that
1) i only cant use a 360 controller currently and

Why don't you switch to playstation or XBOX if you have health issues and can't use keyboards or/and mouses. Would make everything much easier.

Diamond Dogs, buy a Steam controller. I used XBOX controller for everything game related too. I recently got the Steam controller and it is leaps and bounds above the XBOX controller, especially for point and click games like this. I cant recommend it enough.

I forgot to tell you why its so awesome...it has more buttons, the touch pads are way more sensitive and intuitive than sticks. every single thing on the stick is programmable from within steam. you can set the right pad to mouse...then set it so that when you click down the pad the mouse moves slower. so many more options and just way better.

i had interrest in the steam controller aswell but i need to read on some reviews. You tried it already with similiar older games in generel?
@Hare because silent hunter is a pc game isn't it?

Thank you Lt Commander... I do not understand what is so hard about point, click and pan, Don't really need the keyboard if you don't want it, except to type out saves.. can't walk around the boat anyway to get to stations..

I heard what you said, and I explained it, I do not understand why I have to draw a pic on it. It's not a conspericy, and not that big of a deal. If you not satisfied with what I said, fine. Don't jump on me about it. I been in this game since it was first released. Means I own the very first retail DVD 1.0v, and I also have the update DVD version, and now the steam version. I didn't discover it on steam, so I never heard of any supplamental controller for the game. It has always been keyboard and mouse. The command files are set for keyboard and mouse mapping. If your on a laptop, just get a usb mouse and plugin, I always use a usb mouse with my laptop for everything...

Here...

Go to the subsim fourms, ask around there. Maybe they know, Subsim fourms are so dedacated to Silent Hunter, that the entire game series literly lives there. They been around like forever, I even think there is a wiki on them, so they are not a run of the mill type fourm that just came out. They very good at keeping up to date with many things or issues besides the mods. If what your talking about is possable, maybe there is some one there who may know what needs to be done... If you choose not to, well that is on you..
