But man I still suck at it. My Captain's Name from now on is going to be Captain Fail.

It's mostly about recognising the target in ship catalogue. Once you select the right ship, you have to calculate the distance, set up the angle of bow (you set up the direction, where your boar is located reffering the the target's bow) and then you calculate it's speed.

How do I calculate all this? I am bad at maths and need some formula.

in vanilla SH3 (without any mods) you use periscope and lock the target (press L). search the ship in catalogue and set flag. then you must see the type of the ship on the targeting ablet in the right upper corner of your periscope screen.
while target locked - press on "range" word and you'll see range calc there. press on circle with two lines and additional line in periscope will appear. you need to set this line on top of target's mast, while center line remains on its waterline. press LMB and you'll have your range.
next, press on "angle of bow" and try to set up the angle, from which direction your boat is, according to the ship. you can use the map and protractor for this, but i like to be more realistic and i'll wait until target's bow angle is about 70-80 degrees - almost passing my boat.
but before that, you'll have to calculate it's speed too. press "speed" and then press on the clock icon. you'll have to wait 20-30 sec to have more precise readings. i make this procedure few times, until i get the proper speed.

hope it will help. sorry for my bad english.

Thanks for vid, I havent watched it full, but you have some mods i don't on.

But I basically get the speed using 3:15 method. From there I use its course, and the way I am postioned to get the andle of bow. Not sure if I am doing that one 100% accurate, but getting better.

Range well I can use the scope. But can kind of tell on map. Thanks for all the help.

I wan to have a formula so I am 100% accurate, that's the point of it.

if you want to get a 100% working solution, use my method, look my other video, i use different angle time to time 50 90 it depend .... target can be at 1 km or 3 or 5 until the range of your torpedo can get the target, it will works.

It is not a 100% mathematical correct way of doing it. It's more of a guessing pull-through-marathon.

I only believe in mathematics.

" you know sh!t "

How about you put down your arrogant attitude first?

I have played this game dozens of times, I think I am well informed about this game, and I've seen plenty of people using actual formula to get their hits.

Cheers.
