Sh3 + gwx3 Steam in any resolution

Disregard the advice to follow Fiedler - there is no use or purpose in installing Blitzkrieg/Revision's malware, jumping through several thousand hoops, paying for their webhosting or suffering their weird vendetta/bullying of other subsim communities.

Most of the extant modpacks are built on a GWX foundation - I highly recommend OneAlex mod or FiFi's NYGM.

FiFi's gives you the option of Diego's 1080p UI or ARB's UI.

OneAlex uses a OneAlex modified versioni of ARB's UI.

FiFi's requires a valid copy of SHIII and you simply drag it on top of your Steam SHIII installation and activate mods.

OneAlex does not and is a simple all-in-one drag and drop supermod that includes SHIII.

Both mods come with pre-configured HSie/Stiebler patches and LAA on the exe - they're really the most straight forward solutions.

An Online Friend,Yeh but lets not forget that OneAlex is a web rip who pays no royalties to the owners of SH III , and as such is illegal under copy write law, as for pointing you in the direction of FIELDER it seems he has gone in the same direction that he so despised 5 years ago, fair enough never liked the bloke or his attitude ,seemed to think we all owed him something, am not surprised in any case his hammering of SUBSIM which was the first and best of all the communities in its early days ,think 2009 when i became aware of them,and no suprise that Herr FIELDER was a SUBSIM hater because he got kicked from there years ago

I use FiFi's NYGM exclusively which requires an proper copy of the game.

That said, I only mentioned OneAlex because of its popularity - as far as copywrite and such, SHIII is nearly abandonwear. If Ubisoft was concerned about it they'd have ordered a C&D a long time ago.

As for Fiedler, the "you all owe us something" isn't exclusive to him - Blitzkrieg and Revision are the exact same way. Their system locking installers, Front End and all the other garbage they've created aren't even remotely necessary - maybe they clickfarm their garbage software for advertising money from the websites that host the files.

Eeeeeeither way, I wouldn't bother jumping through Fiedler's unnecessary steps when there are better extant offerings.

An Online Friend, Have to agree with you, over the years some people helped and some people hindered, quick question, when does and on what timescale does something become ABANDONWEAR as i have never heard that term before....i am presuming it is like the film industry after 100 years a film becomes free copy-write or Patent ends and it is nearly 20 years old....ATB....SNAFU

Software becomes abandonware when the publisher and developer no longer heavily enforce their ownership of the software via DRM or by ordering C&D for things like OneAlex.

Theres the ARB widescreen mod that changes the resolution to 1920x1080 it also changes other visuals to make the game look nice wolfpack made a video on it used with another mod ages ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sxtY_CrOc4&t=311s

All mega mods differ from each other in the presence of specific ships. Therefore, they are not compatible. But the mission is easy to rewrite for any mod. By replacing the names of the ships to match their availability in this mod.

Heres what worked for me after several fails . Install new Game . Do not start it . And Go here and Download this New Resolution Patch v.1.4b

Copy & Paste the following files to the main SH3 program folder, usually this is C:\Steam\Steam Apps \Common\Silent Hunter 3
1.d3d9.cfg
2.d3d9.dll
3.SHIII.sdb
4.SP2 Rez fix uninstall.bat
5.SP2 Rez fix.bat

Next : Once copied, run the SP2 Rez fix.bat file ( just click on it - it will flash ).
Then : Edit the d3d9.cfg file on the following lines to include your desired resolution:
I have a HD Monitor and i usually run it at 3840 X 2160 .
But The Game went black screen after the initial video sequence . So i lowered it to

resX=3264

resY=1836

And it worked like a charm . You may have different Results.
Next its off to the Mods for me . Hope this helps .
