You need to get a 3rd party program, like tungle. I played on line MP with this program, was fun to do.. You down load it, and it connects you to the tungle server were they host many games. And here you can asign it to the Silent Hunter 3 room were there is someone waiting to see if anyone wants to play. That is what you would need, a 3rd party program like that. It opens the LAN port of the game to make it possable to do on line..

Just remember if you are useing a mod, you will not ba able to connect with a player who is not useing the same mod. Most players that have mod's have the default game data folder in a holding folder as a back up. And in the directory the default data folder renamed. they just switch from the mod game data folder to the default game folder by renaming the game data folders.

Example:
Silent Hunter 3\hold\data

;default game in directory

Silent Hunter 3\data
Silent Hunter 3\dat_

to
Silent Hunter 3\da_a
Silent Hunter 3\data

many of the players there do this..

Anyway there is a mod for GWX that permit anyone to play SH III with mod enabled ( yeah i said with mod ) , you should know it, this mod is on subsim.

Like I said, has absolutly nothing to do with the thread in regarding to LAN game play nor my #4 post which already covered the needed infomation... If your playing a MP game and they are not useing the mod you are regardless what mod it is, you will never connect with the other player at all. Both game data file have to have the SAME data file layout. If you use that GUI what ever mod, then the player has to have it in order to join you, if you have the GWX mod, STILL the other player has to have the same mod or they will never conect to you. And that is just the game lobby.

I have already been there and done that, Had the tungle account for over a year, and had some fun good MP old wolf pack game play..

Sub versus sub? yeah that is a reliable game play there. Can't fire a torpedo below 20meters, once the depth has been set, its not going to swim around like a missle. Silent run will evade the torpdo easy. So really, I fail to see how that is possable. But then again, for all the times I have played, never came across it once. But then again, everyone is busy playing game maps of sub vers the convoy, subs versus destroyers, subs versus ports. Now the SH5 game your always connected. You have to be or it will not play, and the stooped top sub commanders they list are connected also, so you can see others scores, and that is in single player mode. Since your always connected, yeah I can see many cheaters as well as hacking in that game. I have seen screen names like "Icheet" or "conectedtoyou" or "hackemall", Uplay even had problems of accounts being stolen or credit card infomation being accessed. I never had the problem with SH3 on tunggle. I just haven't been up there for some months because I am going over my personal mod.. But during the time I did go up never had a problem...

Only incident I know of, is a guy had a bug, and we didn't know, but he couldn't connect to us, and we couldn't connect to him. And he stated he was useing the default game and still couldn't connect. I suggested to him maybe he has a bug on the HD. Latter on one of the common players said he was on to let everyone know he had a bug and went to get his system clean.

So I do not know if that is the server that blocked him or because of the game files. Because if you are not useing the same game files, you will NOT connect on the LAN port... And that I do know. Been on tunggle, hooked up with some friends and LAN it at their house...

Come to think of it, I do tend to LAN alot... But it is sure fun to wolf pack with others, I tell you...
