How to mod SH3?

Hey guys so I've just downloaded SH3 from Steam after years away from it and I kind of fancy trying out some mods for it? How do I start this? I've done modding on other games through Nexus and Steam workshop but as this doesn't have support for either I'm a bit lost. Thanks!

good luck therte ol mate i too have started playing again but it seems any thing played via steam does not work,, ie ..in the box set you automaticaly could here ships propellers when at 20 mtrs engines off steam version its as if engines still run and NO enemys and how come theres spits and hurricans in the phoney war period 1939-40 attacking you every 5 mins this never happened.. any patches to correctthis any one plz...

Only get Thomsen's sound pack if you want to be constantly deafened by someone blowing into their microphone in an attempt to simulate high Atlantic winds while the same two minute audio clip of Das Boot plays again and again in the background.

thats i say only use main menu music from Das Boot mod i recomendet play without background music
