3D Engine
I haven't been able to play since an update, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked files, and still get error that it can't use the 3D Engine. Anybody have any suggestions?

DirectX update messed up a lot of older games. No fixes found yet that work.

SH3-V1.6b-GWX-WIDESCREEN is best but it is possible to run this game pure vanilla on windows 10 launched from steam.
You need to set your desktop resolution to 1024x768 for full screen or edit the main.cfg in .. \common\Silent Hunter 3\SH3\data\cfg and set FullScreen=No for windowed.

If you already have a SH3 folder in Documents then edit the main.cfg in your documents folder C:\Users\...\Documents\SH3\data\cfg for windowed.

You will be stuck on that 1024 x 800 Resolution though so
have a play for awhile but do yourself a favor and do the full GWX install, its just so much better in many more ways.
