Help with h.sie's patch

So I'm trying to install h.sie's patch for SH3 and I found a video(a reputable one too) on YT explaining in detail how to do it. I followed all the instructions closely, but when I run Patch_SH3.bat it searches for a compatible version and then just pops up with:
"No compatible version of sh3.exe found. Patching not possible! Exit."

Then I though it must be because I have the Steam version of SH3, so I did some digging and found a forum post referring to a video explaining how to do it with the Steam version... long story short, the video turned out to be the one I had already watched.

Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?

(NOTE: The reason I post this here is A. The creator of the video will most likely not respond to my comment on his vid, probably because of how old it is. B. I'm not sure if the Subsim forums are still active or that I would get any response)

I used this patch in the past, i installed SH III start a school mission, then leave the game, then copy past HSIES in SH III directory, then everything went fine from there.

After that install the 4 giga patch and all good.

The thing is, I already have the 4GB patch. Does that mess with h.sie's patch?

Ok...so how do I remove the 4GB patch then?

Do I just have to abandon my career and completely reinstall SH3 and all the mods?

Well you cant actually... You need the original SH3.exe then apply SHies and then 4 giga.
So the best will be to get the SH 3 original, get it from a friend, cant give you mine as my SH III is altready patched and stuff....

Great... wasted money and 2 careers down the drain

No steam version is very good, the thing is you just used the 4 giga patch before HSIES....

You can save your career file from my documents file, save your mod and stuff, unistall everything, reboot pc re install start a school mission then leave the game, install HSIES and the option you want and THEN 4 giga patch and your mod for sure.

Dont know if it could work but.....

Rename Silent Hunter III file and try to see if you can re install SH III just to get the original EXE ? not sure if this can work, otherwise ask on subsim but well this website is sH!t most of the DL link are dead

Nah I'll just buy a proper copy of Silent Hunter 3 from Ubisoft, I've seen so many posts on Subsim about the Steam copy being messed up

Nah I'll just buy a proper copy of Silent Hunter 3 from Ubisoft, I've seen so many posts on Subsim about Steam messing with the client

I always play SH III with mod on STEAM and never ad any problem at all. You just installed HSIES before the 4 giga patch thats the only thing wrong you did......

Ok so I completely uninstalled SH3, JGSME and SH3C and removed all the folders, now can I install a fresh SH3 and do the proper patching?

reboot pc its better, then install SH III, then go in game school mission select any mission start the mission ( this create INI FILES ) then when IN GAME from there you can leave the game, select any HSIES options you want apply them, then install 4 giga patch and from there, install any mod you want, i recommend you WAC.

Oh also after all that can I install SH3 Commander and run the game that way?
