Is this still the best submarine sim?

This is probably a loaded question since this is the SH3 forum and on top of that "the best" is an incredibly subjective term.

But how does this hold up? Any other sub sims that are worth checking out?

I personally haven't come across any better sub sim than Silent Hunter. Now which one is debatable, but definitely this franchise.

Yes, if only the crew could figure out how to make a duty schedule without a mod. The captain "me" volunteered to do it but the admiral said no, that's too easy...

I confirm overall the best submarine SIMULATOR still Sh3 with Gwx gold mod but Wolfpack in early access should probably succeed and surpass it(at the current stage the basis of its development is already superior)

But Wolfpack isn't a complete different type of game being only co-op?

Silent Hunter 5 with Wolves of Steel provides a better "Simulation" in my opinion. I find the gameplay of Silent Hunter 3 more fluid and more fun personally even though it doesn't have quite the same level of realism. It's all about how much you want to be involved though, if you just want to take off into the sea and sink some boats 3 is better, if you want to wonder about the ship speaking to your crew, painstakingly measuring and calculating targeting information and micromanaging your ship then 5 is better (this is comparing mods WoS and GWX) for the base games 5 isn't very good and 3 is fine.
