Nope. They tried and it failed.
Multiplayer does not work with this game nor has there ever been any incentive to do it.
My last game session, I wanted to split some wood and make some syrup to sell. First, I needed to make a fuel run. Decided to visit the windmills and the scrapyard while I was out. Sun was about to start setting when I returned home. It was nearly pitch black when I got my poutine, maple syrup and the pack of seeds unloaded (I wasn’t even taking time to carry them inside. I threw them through the window). Still don’t have any wood split, only two barrels ready to sell out of four (they were made on Monday (in game) and it’s now Friday). This leaves me about 8 in-game hours to split three trees worth of wood, boil the entire reservoir to fill the last two barrels and get them to the federation.
If this were multiplayer, one person could stay at the shack and tend to the fire while another person does all the away-from-home stuff. Now, how the game is, if you plan to do one thing, you better plan on doing only that one thing because that’s all you have time for
if the game wasn't made with multiplayer then it most likely means its not meant for multiplayer
Some games are meant to be played single player (Tetris)
Some games are meant to be played multiplayer (Fortnite)
Some games aren’t “meant” to be played one way or the other but can be played in either (Minecraft)
just because a task is easier with 2 people doesn't mean it should be a multiplayer game
