To quote another game developer who worked at 989 Sports it would require the game to be rendering the map completely at both players locations.
So just imagine even the most high end computer handing the city stores area, items and one Bazou car and your Maple farm and fire wood and the second Bazou car area at the same time.
It would require some serious optimization and that wouldn't make sense until the game is nearly finished if the Game engine could even handle it in the first place.
