Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific

Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific

Patch 1.4
I have the SH 4 220mb patch 1.4, at the moment the game is 1.3, you can still download the 1.4 patch here: http://www.fileplanet.com/175733/170000/fileinfo/Silent-Hunter-4:-Wolves-of-the-Pacific-v1.4-Patch

The prob with it is that it is an auto install that boots up but fails to find the game, reason is I have my game on Steam which is on another hard drive, (games hard drive) with my OS on an SSD drive which is where the auto load will look first and come up with the fail of finding the game, the only option the patch allows you to choose is in what language to install in, anyone got any idea's of a solution.

I checked my version of Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific and when I mouse over the exe file it shows version 1.5 I'm guessing that that's the u-boat expansion version, yes?

So if I get the U boat missions pack it would give me the 1.4 and the 1.5 patch only asking cuz it is not mentioned in the write up about the pack, game just dont feel right in 1.3.

I'm NOT suggesting any solution here. I'm still trying to fully understand your question. The guys over at subsim.com are the real experts when it comes to this (or any) sub game

I could be wrong , its been awhile since I've messed with it. But I believe that your suppose to put said file in your silent hunter directory and launch it from there. This would be in your steam directory/common ...etc....You may have to make a new shorcut .exe file as well. ANd I don't know if this will give you the dreaded "can't find game" on steam.

Tried that already.

Oh the dreaded 1.3, have just bumped into the bug that tells you to patrol a sector (mission) and when arriving at location, another message saying 'sink enemy vessels in the area', (it's normally a 50 nm radios of star) but you will get no enemy in that location, (mission incomplete) this is the bug in the missions and they are random, there is more that will pop up, 1.4 fixes this, the other bug is after saving and then reloading last saved game cuz ya just got caught and sunk or messed up or even just wanting to try something again, the game will load up but when it trys to get back into sub after saying 'loading please wait', the screen will stay black and just crash to desk top, it will load up again after restarting to the last saved file, 1.4 also fixes this. It's a shame that Steam has not let this patch through as it was a Ubisoft official up date.

Looks like I will have to use my old disc.

The only true solution I have discovered is to find the original game on DVD. I was lucky enough to find one on eBay. Then all the mods, updates and patches will work. If Steam gave you the option of downloading the entire game as COG does, then you could mod the game to your hearts content. I realize this isn't much help but this was my solution. BTW COG only has Silent Hunter II to the best of my knowledge.

yeah dont install it guys, i have a feeling that its a virus... it didnt update my sh4 and did some funky bussines... like installed opera from out of nowhere and that stuff
Dude, you're reviving a topic that's more than half a decade old, how silly is that!!

The other problem is that some have zero knowledge, but naively download and install from everywhere on the web instead of verified sources and click wildly on everything they find and then they have 'feelings', LOL

Thirdly, you seem forget that Steam updates its software on its own, so why should you even need the 1.4 patch?
