Worth buying?

Might be worth waiting for a sale, but unless you've got friends to use with LAN, its mostly singleplayer...

The game has recently had a downslide of players a few months ago. There are still the odd bunch who play, myself included but im not really around that often anymore on DEFCON.

You could do what Exodus advised and hope that there is enough of a boost of players for you to get a few good games in. (but i would not get my hopes up on that one since this game is long in the tooth now)

I've you've got a group of friends to do some LAN matches with or even web matches, pop on it. But the game is.. Very old by now, and it's still great.

well it's not expensive, and you can usually get a game in with only a few minutes wait. At times introversion (the parent company) has ran specials like a package including Defcon, and two other of their strategy-based games for dirt cheap <- this would bring in a flux of new players.. not necessarilly an improvement however, from some of the "old skool" player's perspective amid the flood of "noobs" he he!....But there is still a following of a small, but dedicated core group of players.
