Of course the base game is the same. It would even take much more effort to recreate everything from scratch with every new game. And that's something def not needed, because the interface alone is not so important as long as it is not lacking functionality. So why bothering with it at all? I would not even mind it if it was exactly the same as past year's.
We don't need new interfaces every year. We need new and interesting gameplay additions to the current game like better animations, gameplay mechanics, bugs and A.I. fixes and so on.
And yes EA is lacking in providing these things at least to a satisfying extend. If they would focus more on the franchise modes we could have a much deeper NFL experience for sure. And the criticism for that is just completely fair. But it's def not fair to criticize them for not recreating every little and to a certain degree "unimportant" aspect of the game.
Nearly every game series you can think of uses assets from the past that simply just evolved over the years. This happens everywhere you look in the industry. So if you're about to criticize EA for that you gotta' criticize nearly everyone else as well!
Madden 22 is far beyond beeing a perfect game, nor is it close beeing the game that everyone of us deserves, but even though it's core mechanics are pretty good. And a lot of people have a good time playing it.
If it's worth full price is another question. And the answer to that is very subjective. That's something everyone has to decide on his own. I personally bought it on sale and I'm pretty happy with it, even owning M21. M22 def improved in it's gameplay and provides a much better feedback.
I know that AJ video and I agree in terms with him, about that it seems like EA almost lost every passion and sensitivity for creating their games. Too much about EA is just about how to make max profits, instead of providing the best experience possible. But that's def nothing new when it comes to EA and the industry in general.
But coming here or beeing on YT telling this to the playerbase won't ever change a thing. Angry Joe and other CC's would do a lot better by just using their range and trying to get in touch with EA face to face, instead of just doing these rants! And living in NA you guys will probably have a much better chance to catch those guys somewhere at E3 for example.
So tbh I really don't see the point in guys like you coming here doing these kind of posts, because everyone here already knows these things. And a lot of people also do not share that same opinion.
Open your mail software and send your personal feedback directly to EA instead, because it won't ever arrive EA when posting this here!
And if you feel like the game is not worth it's full price then only buy it on a sale! It's completely up to you, the same way it's completely up to everyone else. You simply can't criticize EA for your own responsibility.
I for example completely understand why M22 is not next gen on PC, and it's not going to get any upgrade for sure, although I completely dislike that fact. I'd love to have those graphics on PC and it could even look much better compared to next gen consoles. It feels like a big letdown, but from a marketing perspective I completely understand that move.
A next gen console game price is roughly about $80 / 70€. That's 1/3 more the cost of old gen prices. Most people on PC buy at resellers nevertheless, which means they even pay less than standard old gen prices. And the other guys wait for 50% or even 75% off sales like I did for example. So the difference between current and old gen in profits is simply just huge. Now ask yourself! How could they ever justify those prices to next gen customers if there wasn't exclusive features and a better engine?
They couldn't! So from a marketing point of view it's completely fine although it feels completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up for us sitting on (old gen). They simply justify this, because most if not everyone of us only buys cheap. And that's just the truth for most of us. I can not remember the last time I bought any game at full price, because I simply do not have to. And those projects that I am very passionate about are mostly early access projects, which go a completely different marketing route than any AAA title.
EA is losing customers nevertheless, that's why they had to come up with gamemode monetization. And it's working, they make huge profits. That's how they compensate. Would the game change at all if it would only come out every third year? No it wouldn't. The situation would be exactly the same. Only difference is that the period of releases would differ. But that wouldn't change a thing about the quality of the game.
So I completely understand your frustration and I do share your opinion that Madden could be so much better. But it's simply the way how things are. EA is simply ok with taking the risk of losing you and me along the way, but there are simply just too much guys enjoying the game for what it is. And I do enjoy it myself and it got nice additions compared to last year. And that's just the truth.
Just watch yt and how much money some content creators put into Madden for card packs! Some of them invest thousands of dollars into the game each year. That's much over 100 next gen copies of the game. You really can't blame EA for milking those guys! That's like blaming Ferrari for selling cars at $500.000.
It's mostly the players who ♥♥♥♥ things up! So you rather accept that Madden series will never be the same and enjoy it for what it is now, or you completely leave it be! Those rants here in between the community won't change anything, like I said in my previous post.
Just a quick note - we actually need less (or no) animations. If you haven't already, try out Sabo's gameplay mod which makes several common sense changes to core logic - one of them is eliminating catching animations. Holy god - it is incredible how organic coverage is without those god awful animations. CBs actually swat the ball out of the receivers hands and coverage is tight again.
Also tweaked is ability to hit stick, ability to have superhuman agility with DT's (so once the RB is past you the DT is out of the play.
Anyway, if the base game included this as some kind of All-Madden + difficulty it would be amazing.
