Because you dont change the Move at will command.
Download Rendrocz Warzone mod,it improves AI(you still have bad accuracy if you cant get used to that get the ♥♥♥♥ out of here)and more things improved, and time to the reality,i have killed someone one hit without hitting them in the head without mods,i have killed with fragmentation grenades(in the rendroc warzone mod there is a addon that will make one of the German AI to get in top of the grenade to save his comrades)you use that mod and it will improve the game's mechanics, however the ''bad'' accuracy and ''bad'' fragmentation grenades stay but you have to calculate when throwing the grenade. This game is one of the best World War II games out there the AI is not perfect but you need to cope with it or download the Rendrocz Warzone mod.
also i used to shoot regularily every other day for some years in real, real guns, and i tried my best to get the weapon sway as close to how it is in real life as i could
You will notice that when you are frist attacking that if the enemy has not been suppressed at all and you happen to get a decent angle for a shot, your clean shot will not register. You can take like 2-3 shots right on the Ai head and the game will deny you your hit.
It's not that you are missing, the game is designed so you have to get the enemy into a suppressed state frist. Then you will notice your shots will hit. The only other way is if you flank totally on their side or around them, and even then, your shots still might not register.
It's kinda janky that it was designed this way, If I was a dev, I would have made the enemy jerk out of the way if you did connect a shot, make it look like they dodged it, or was hit but, not bad enough to stop fighting. Anything would have been better than the awkward moments when it feels like your shooting ghosts.
I remember there was a mod which removed this from the game though. Not sure where to get it.
Ultimately though, the whole argument that your weapon is just not accurate is not true. The game is designed to force you to use the suppression feature. If the enemy is not suppressed, you will "miss" them, even if you clearly did not.
Although I think Crafty's argument of the bullets not hitting due to the suppression mechanic makes sense (though i've never heart of that being the case), flanking is your best friend, flanking using the M1 Thompson or the carbine works very well.
Even then, long-ranged shots with either the bolt action Springfield or M1 Garand still appear to register, it is just an exercise of patience in order to get your iron sight to land on the enemy.
I know for a fact however, that the devs make the aim extra shaky no matter what in order to appeal to realism and force you to use fireteams.
Once you start doing missions without any scripted parts you realize how dynamic the combat actually is. The enemy AI will actually counter flank you and whatnot and fall back if they are getting beat. Even compared to AI in games today, this game stands out.
The game is more of a squad based RTS game. The issue is, the first hour plays like it will be a FPS game and it is horrible, UNTIL you actually command your units around and have full on open battlefield fights with the enemy. Eventually you command tanks and things get even more interesting.
Hells Highway is lightspeed better imo though. The graphics and sound is way better.
Again though, you play in FPS perspective but the game is more RTS with boots on the gruond.
Yeah Hells Highway is the reason I got the original 2, and I also bought it for PC because playing HH on the PS3 was laggy AF even though I've already beaten it many times. HH is still miles better than the first two.
Only problem is Franky, he went to bootcamp right? Where's that kids disipline? Why doesn't he take her back to the squad at least? It'd be a hell of a lot safer than running from the squad into burning buildings, stupid kid.
