Didn't you need to buy the patch for the first game? Is this one really free?

The first game had a launch discount for the price of the patch, so they might do that. Either way the patch for the first game was only like $5.

It will cost money. Confirmed by JAST:

Why not just increase the Steam price and make the patch free? Many people won't bother buying off-site patches due to the lack of regional pricing.

What I know is, vanilla version did have free 18+ patch, but only apply to simplify chinese language.
It is because chinese translation is made by Kagura Games, and they usually provide free patch for their games.

I'll just get the entire thing directly from JAST then. It seems pointless to buy the game on Steam if I'm going to have to buy a patch to get the proper game elsewhere.

Doesn't it add up to be the same? The patch + steam = full package from jast. Atleast usually it's like that.
In my country it's cheaper to buy the Steam game then the patch. The patch iirc, is one of the ways to work around Steam's policies.

Well it's a plus for people that don't care about the cut stuff (cheaper) and those that want everything to be on one platform.

It's on discount on JAST right now, which mean both the game and patch (since it's one piece there) are both effectively on sale. I don't know if they'll offer the patch on discount. It's not big money, but it might save you $1-2 and you have to deal with JAST anyways if you want the complete version. Also, for those who care, buying it on JAST means it won't be on your Steam profile.

I mean we don't have a price for the game on steam yet right? Atleast on my store. And knowing steam, the game will probably have a 10-20% discount or something for a week or two on release. Which may or may not match the JAST complete edition minus patch price.
