Dual Sense Controller Fix

I just wanted to post this for others since I could not find any working method to get a dual sense controller (PS5) to work natively with this game on steam. Very frustrating getting this to work as the game actually does support it, but either steam, or the EA app is getting in the way.

Multiple issues here. First, the game showing xbox buttons but the button mapping is completely wrong. Second issue is when the ps buttons finally show up the game keeps switching between MBK and controller even if the mkb is unplugged.

First issue is the game showing xbox buttons and and very odd button mapping. If you have launched the game with steam inputs enabled then this seems to cause this and the only fix i could find was totally uninstalling the game via revo uninstaller.

Here are the steps I took to finally get my ps5 controller to be recongnized and useable in BF 2042 via steam.

1. Have a fresh clean install of the game.

2. ( Not sure if this did anything, but was one of the steps i took trying to solve this ) Make EA app and steam run in admin mode. Right click -> properties -> compatability

3. In steam, in the controller settings for BF 2042 disable steam inputs.

4. In general controller settings Steam -> Settings -> Controller

Turn all options off. Enable playstation controller support.

In he Non-Game Controller Layouts; edit the desktop layout and disable steam inputs.

5. Launch the game in big picture mode with your controller plugged in.

If all goes well you shoudl be able to use your dual sense controller with the correct buttons displayed in game.

i've tried everything to get my dual sense edge to work in this game and nothing works... I used to be able to use DS4Windows, and that worked until they blocked it recently. This game has had terrible controller support since launch and it's only gotten worse since then. I gave up on playing this because of the controller issues about a year ago.

Try right clicking on bf2042 and disable steam controller support then close steam and then relaunch it as admin, also in the ea launcher the overlay MUST be enabled so open it and make sure that is turned on and then try launching bf2042
