I'm getting a 'persistence data' error 125012S every time I try to load into a match, and my brother is too.

Brother lives in a different city with a different ISP--why are we both seeing the same issue? No one else here is talking about it, so it must be isolated...I've tried restart the PC, change my DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 , repair the game on steam by verifying the files...no luck.

It has always worked just fine. I played like a week ago and it was fine. Just tonight it's broken for both of us.

I'm having the same issue and still seeking answers for why all the sudden this started. I haven't had any issues playing BF2042 on my XBox but when I try to play on my PC and I get the error message 125012S. I play BF2042 on my PC mostly and haven't seen this error before.

I have discovered that I get "Error 1250125S" only when I switch from PC to Xbox or from Xbox to PC. So I'll just play on one platform for the day if I'm playing BF2042.

Another update: I was able to play BF2042 switching from Xbox to PC or PC to Xbox without getting the "Error 125012S" after I shut everything down and reset my internet.

My final update: Last night, after playing BF2042 all day on my PC, I begin having issues connecting to BF2042 games. I don't know if it was because of server issues or what the reasons were. Anyway, I switched over to my Xbox to play BF2042. I got the "125012S Error" upon entering the game and it would kick me out. So the simplest method to fix this issue I found was to; log out of the EA App on the PC and shut down Steam. I went ahead and shut down my PC as well. I switched back to my Xbox and rebooted my Xbox. I restarted BF2042 on my Xbox and I was able to play with no issues. Just a note: I predominantly play BF2042 on my PC and I've always had random issues that I've had to work through. However, on the Xbox platform, I don't have those random issues. So my conclusion is that playing BF2042 on Xbox is software friendly and I haven't had any of the issues I've dwelt with on my PC. Although I do prefer playing on my PC because my rig was built for speed and high FPS. I hope this info may help provide some incite for those that also may have encountered "Error 125012S".

Thanks for all your updates. I think it has something to do with Xbox and PC compatibility since when we initially had the error, I was trying to join a party with my brother who was on Xbox while I was on PC. Then he got the error when he switched to PC. He went back to Xbox and was able to play, and I kept getting the error on PC. Couldn’t fix it. Tried again the next day and it worked. Tried playing with him while he was on Xbox, no problem.

Haven’t had the error since that initial night where it seemed to not like that I was in a cross platform party. Not sure why or how it fixed itself, hope it doesn’t happen again but the best guess I have is some cross play related bug.

On to another topic, looking at your profile you appear to have a passion for gaming to say the least. I received my first gaming console Christmas of 1972. It was a Magnavox Odyssey. That’s when it all started! :) It was so awesome and simple. I wish I still had it today. My first PC was a Tandy SX1000 when they were introduced in the 1980’s. I wish I still had it today. I’ve owned and experienced every console. My sons will never forget those days. A lot of good memories! It’s been a fun ride through life experiencing and witnessing the revolution of gaming. Yesterday my friend and I were having the same problem (He plays on his Xbox with his profile, but with my account shared with Game Pass, I from my PC), we tried restarting devices, closing sessions and opening them... nothing It worked, until suddenly, my friend started playing on my account and not on his (I had already exited the game and closed the Xbox and EA application) and out of nowhere a few achievements began to jump, less than 5 , I thought that it had to do with a synchronization problem, so I logged back into my account from PC, he logged into his from his Xbox, I joined his Party and everything was solved.

The safest thing, in my opinion, is just the crossave... for now that's how we've been doing it and we haven't had that much of a problem... obviously it would be better if the EA technicians solved it but... who knows even when will they do it

Hmm this is helpful. The common thread here seems to be some Xbox/PC weirdness going on.

"Repair EasyAntiCheat:
Navigate to the EasyAntiCheat folder in your game directory.
Run the setup.exe file.
Click “Install Service” or “Repair Service” (depending on what you see).

It actually worked for me, though i've done so many other fixes that also worked. why is this a fix and the game doesn't just work like every other non-EA game. It confuses me even more when i DO connect to a game but the error still pops up, as i'll be in the loading screen and i can hear the gunfire, the text to speech for the chat works too and i hear it reading out chat, but no; gotta sit in a loading screen with an error that doesn't tell me anything useful and EA support that are no more helpful.

Make sure you have a stable and strong connection to the game servers.
Consider using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi for better stability.

In the game settings, disable crossplay.
Sometimes crossplay can cause issues, so try playing without it."

This worked like a charm! I’ve been trying to fix this issue for months.
I tried turning off cross play, changing the DNS, restarting, and rebooting both my PC and PS5. Thank you! It’s amazing EA has done nothing to resolve this issue.
