BF2042 - Slow Launch After Pressing Play

Hey! So I wanted to play BF2042 & I have trouble launching the game.

As soon as I press the "PLAY" button on Steam the usual small loading window pops up in the middle of the screen & proceeds to barely do anything. It probably takes around 30 minutes or more to launch the game.

Tried file verification.
Tried Easy Anti-Cheat Repair.
Tried to reinstall.
PC is 100% fine. Could not be the source.

I did not have this issue in the past.

Any solutions?

same here, EA apps gives me a notification that something on their end didnt work and i should retry it later. Outstanding, was kinda excited for the new Tanks.

There are two things ya'll can try.
1. try deleting the cache folder in documents. Do this one first;
and/or
2. Install the game on an SSD, if its not already.

there are 2 possible issues causing this . . .

The EA App & EA Anti Cheat Tool



it is the EA App you need to manually fix / update!

by launching BF2042 on Steam, the EA App might auto-update in background when starting BF2042, and sometimes it corrupts and all EA App's .exe files are gone or whatever .. and BF2042 will never be started.

So download latest EA App from EA website, and repair client.



If the EA App client has been repaired, it might have also corrupted the EA AntiCheat installation. So if after a corruption or by doing a manual update of EA App and/or EAAC, you need to repair both services.

And additionally, EA AntiCheat receives updates nearly every day. Sometimes you need also to manually update it, besides a corrupted EA App.



Traverse to:

..\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2042\EAAntiCheat

Launch:

EAAntiCheat.Installer.Tool.exe

Select "BF2042 (installed)" and update EAAC definitions for BF2042.


After anticheat definitions update, EAAC Tool window closes and re-opens with a successful message. Close the EAAC Tool afterwards. Launch BF2042 through Steam.


But be careful, sometimes it might corrupt the InstallDir location by updating as mentioned already. So if BF2042 pushes out an error, you need to repair this EAAC service afterwards through mentioned tool to setup the correct InstallDir again ..



Steam + EA App + EAAC + BF2042 = causing failures . . .



A 3rd issue might be, your machine does NOT correctly switch between your iGPU and dGPU . . . so check your settings there as well . . .
