Disappointed By What The Gaming Community Is Becoming

It has been over 20 years since I came to the gaming scene. I started out with Halo Combat Evolved on the original Xbox when I was 4. Back then I didn't have online capability, no updates to fix bugs or glitches. I played with AI or split screen with my sister if I wanted to play with someone else. I did this up until the first Xbox 360 came out, I had never been on another match with someone that wasn't in my household. Back then we knew the hackers by their names, usually there was only a few out there. They were like celebrities, dark, usually had menacing names to remember them by. Now it is like cockroaches, it's just random untalented swine that want to be like the pro's (not like the e-sports pro's don't hack sometimes) that will never realize their true gamer potential.

I was disappointed today when I went to go browse for a Portal server and instantly saw 4 servers named "XP Farm". Not only that, it's the way some of you are just being impatient with the servers and developers, especially on Twitter. If you are really wanting to play that bad and want to be that rude about it, then learn to program or become a technician and fix it yourself. Forza Horizon 5 had over 24,000 players on at once when it released this week, they had server troubles as well, and still do. When you look at the timeline for technology and gaming, it has not been that long since studios have started to focus their games from single player games to competitive server based games. I believe we are lucky to have this much stability with a game of this scale. I believe one day we will be able to have massive games with over 400 people in each server and not have a single drop of ping or server lag, that day has not yet come but it will. Look at War of Rights for example, 400 man servers and a good amount of stability.

Moral of the story is, enjoy what we have because we once didn't have it. Don't hack because you feel you are bad at games. AND ESPECIALLY DON'T XP FARM BEFORE THE GAME HAS EVEN FULLY RELEASED YOU NOOB!

This is a product - people pay money for it and expect a working product like - you know - in the real world?

Backin the days gamers werent sheep - if games had gamebreaking bugs and problems they also critized the game and the developers etc.
Also if you look back games actually barely had updates because there was no easy way to do updates ....

I do want to share my portal experiences, but all the slots are taken by the XP farms. Jesus it's tough.

It is a bad game design if the game allows xp farming to begin with. Developers these days are pushed to the limit and are not allowed to actually take their time to deliver a polished game. EA is one of the greediest companies out there and they downgrade all franchises to release games more frequent. BF2042 needed at least 6-12 more months of developing to get rid of xp farming, stupid bugs and more. The old ''it is done when it is done'' is of the past, it is now ''it is done when we want money''..

Also who cares about 128 players? We already have games with more players - but more players dont mean more fun - to be honest i enjoyed smaller map with 64 players more because larger maps with 128 players actually feel more empty and the graphics could be better with 64. What is the point of a server with 4000 players if you never interact with more than 20-30 at the same time?

This is grade A coping going on. This isn't the great depression and we have to be thankful for a slice of bread. There are other shooters that are out or coming out that do what this game does but better. We could just play the old games now and wait for the devs to finish this "early access" game. Stop accepting mediocre experiences.

I don't understand what they are trying to say either. Just because you got something you didn't have doesn't mean it's a good thing just because you have it.

While I'm not gonna sweep BF2042's problems under the rug (the 'Persistence Server' disconnects are annoying, though hardly unexpected for a big-budget game), you're spot on that hackers and XP farmers are the lowest of the low. The former are just narcissistic children looking for their 15 seconds of fame, and the latter are the reason devs so rarely include stuff like Portal. Like, seriously, the game just came out, and these people are trying to rocket up the progression ladder in a day. They'll probably complain there's 'not enough content' to.

I'm in NZ, so 100 dollars is standard for games over here, but yea tons of ♥♥♥♥ man. costs 60 dollars for 2 to go to the movies with popcorn etc

I don't really care about the XP farms. My issue is that they are literally taking servers from other modes. Once we have enough, I don't mind people farming; it doesn't disturb my game, and if they want to progress faster, good for them, where's the issue in XP farming?

It's DICE's fault this time for not having enough servers up at launch, but they will fix it quickly, don't worry.

Cheaters hopefully will be banned - but why would you even care about XP Farmers? I couldnt care less if someone is over level 9000 and has achievements on day 2.

Yes if it already is your girlfriend just bring your own snacks? But yes on a first date you probably should buy the popcorn in the cinema.
