Same issue. Tried all the suggestions, nothing worked.
same wth is going on?:steamfacepalm:
it doesn't work with me. I don't understand why.
The update is a mess. Verifying the files or even a new install isn't fixing it
Yes, same here. dunno how to fix it. I try close steam and EA. I tried to verify installed game. nothing works..hope there will be update to fix this issue
Steam...stop...auto...updating...period...#2 stop allowing 2042 from modifying my nvidia gpu settings or any other settings on my device

P.S. why is the game automatically updating without my notification and permission

Because steam delivers the updates as and when they are published and ready to go live, And you won't be able to play if you're running a different build to the rest of the playerbase.

2042 doesn't change any GPU settings except for forcing read-only attributes on low level driver stuff which used to be exploited to create an unfair advantage by nullifying some LODS.

Unfortunately this is the only answer to this particular issue due to cheaters exploiting GPU driver settings using third party tools to expose settings that are not usually available to "normal" players through Nvidia's control panel or Nvidia App/Geforce Experience.

I had same issue, updating my GPU drivers seems to have resolved it. Dont ask me why.
I am having the same problem now. Restarting Steam and EA or launching via EA app didn't fix it.
also farked me over, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Updating Radeon Software fixed it! You guys should try that.

Thank you very much!

Updating the driver solves the problem. AMD video card. In my case, the absurdity of the situation was that I had the recommended driver version installed. However, the developer changed the recommended driver version to a lower value (27.4.1 => 24.3.1).

Okay for Nvidia users:

The Geforce Experience is currently only providing version 560.94 of the driver. For Battlefield to work you need version 561.09 which came out today.

You can manually download and install it from the Nvida website or wait for about 4 more hours until the Geforce Experience rolls out the new patch version automatically.
I hope everything works.
I don't care how you spin it. I did not give EA permission to modify any of my settings without my permission. I don't care about whatever corny excuse you have...the modifications was making other applications specifically Lightworks and Topaz unusable they were auto closing because of it.

Secondly what if EA includes in their 90GB package a key logger...or a program that searches for all photos on my computer and uploads it to their servers??

Who is checking that??

Who is testing that??

No updates whatsoever should be occurring without my notification and permission PERIOD...

If this game had a non online play mode...upon notification I could scan for errors like this before doing so...and if it did have errors...delay the update until I saw a working version.
The issue is still not fixed...what is the refund policy
