There are many things in this game that is missing from previous Battlefield games. The developers have done their best, untill EA pulled the plug, and added so much that the game feels a bit more well rounded, but not nearly as finished.

I think as a fan of the Battlefiled franchise you just have to accept how the game is now and wait until the next one comes out.

1. Wanting to play with favourite vehicles that a side has and the other doesnt.
2. Wanting to play against friends in the same battle.
3. Prefering a side more than the other.
4. Even out a battle that's too easy - allows players to autobalance.

Again, all Battlefields up to this day has this option.

Also some factions in Portal have unique vehicles, which are very fun to use.
