sniper rifles are pointless
why on earth are these sniper rifles sooo pathetically under powered. the whole idealogy behind sniping is to take out a target with a single shot and move silently away without them noticing. unless they have ceramic plating on their chest and torso they should be getting dropped one shot at upper torso. Only time I have noticed I get a one shot kill is a headshot. Hell i hit them in the neck and it takes at least 2 shots. otherwise it takes more than 2 bullets or more depending on the weapon to take out a player. lol. i get it is arcadish rubbish of a game, but the ballistics penetration physics are absolute trash. f'in hilarious.

Granted, I'd have to go back to BF4 again to see if they adjusted/patched it out from the last time I played but non-head located 1 shot kills were in fact possible even with Mid tier Upgraded Rifles.

You have never been able to kill a solder at full health with a sniper rifle bodyshot in normal mode in Battlefield 4 EXCEPT with the special sniper rifles you could pick up from specific spawn points on the ground. You're quite free to reinstall Battlefield 4 and verify this. And no, they didn't patch it later either; it was always like that.

beyond that then why have a sniper class? this is the issue, the identity and function gets murky and lost and the definition of what a sniper in the game is lost.

Good thing then that snipers are available to all classes in 2042, so now you can carry a sniper rifle and help your team, while in the past snipers were mostly a drag. So, why present this question now with this game in particular?

Besides heads are a small target, snipers go for the center mass of the torso which often has the greatest damage potential without the risk of missing something as small as a head.

Yep, that's where the question of skill comes in. Good snipers aim for the head except when their target is out in the open with no hope of finding cover on time.

Either way its whatever at this point. this game isn't going to change its lost its identity anyway with cannonballing like a boulder into the COD pool trying pull in that audience in a half-assed and desperate fashion, and ruined the game, and they been playing catch up ever since.

You can keep talking about "lost identities" all you want but one-hit-kill bodyshots were never a thing in Battlefield outside hardcore servers.

im talking broadly as far the game overall. the BF2042 is nothing BF4 let alone BF3 was. They clearly made a failed attempt at trying to capture that COD audience and failed miserably and now trying to clean up their f*** up because money walks bullsh1t talks. and yes 1 shot kills were a thing, depending on the tier of weapon you used and its not mistaken nostalgia either. you can't even call this a sniper class anymore its more of a hybrid support class at this point. it is what it is as they say. Ill leave it at that.
Well.. if you suck at sniping they are useless yes... xD
