Pc restarting itself ONLY when playing bf2042

Hi, i experience pc restarts but only when playing bf2042. A friend of mine has the same case. Anybody else?

This is a copy/paste response but.. It's still relevant.

Different things can cause it.

If you are running an overclock, back them down until the game and windows play nicely, Or revert to stock.

I would also recommend you switch off the PC, unplug your Ram and plug it back in, Same for your GPU, Take it out and then re-seat it.

when you load back into windows open a command prompt as admin ( start menu -> search for "run" and type in cmd and then run it as an administrator.

In the cmd prompt, type in chkdsk /r and press enter, You may need to reboot windows for the scan to take place but if it detects any corrupt windows files, It will replace them with files that are not corrupt.

Finally, Right click BF2042 in your steam library -> properties -> verify files.

Try running BF after you do all this and if the issue goes away it'll have been one of those that was causing the issue.

Also keep an eye on temps too using something like OpenHardWare Monitor which will tell you your motherboard, CPU, GPU and GPU hotspot temps, You'll want CPU and your GPU to be under 90C under full load, Lower than 80 or even 70 ideally but as long as you're not hitting 90C you should be fine.

For me it was my RAM that was unstable and made the game crash and restart the PC. BF2042 hammers the ram pretty good. If you have CPU or RAM OC/Undervolt try default.
RAM XMP setting can also be unstable sometimes. Could be worth trying default and see if it still hangs. (Changing things in BIOS is on own risk.)

Usually if a game restarts the PC its CPU or RAM. If GPU is unstable the game can crash but usually only to desktop on modern PC:s. In rare cases the PSU might be too weak but thats last on the list of things to check.

Temps on CPU could also be a problem as suggested above.

Last update started causingt this with my PC; no issues prior to this last update.

It keeps happening to me, but now 99% of the times on the main menu or loadouts. Never in game.

I had this problem I did a verify game files it kept updating a couple files and that didn't seem to work but I looked and the only files it would update were part of EA anti cheat so I reinstalled the EA anti cheat using the installer that's in the games install directory.

it seems to have been resolved after reinstalling the EA anti cheat no crashes after that.
You could give that a try and see if it helps for you or your friend.
