Is it all about the assault rifle?

I've heard that the assault rifles do X2 damage for a headshot.

Does that mean that they just do potentially more damage even than the LMG? Or does an LMG do more damage shot per shot so that it is equally destructive?

And what about the kind of lmg. The M240B text says "firing the heavier 7.62X51..." Does it do more damage than the Avancys?

The Avancys does seem to have way better recoil, but if the M240B does more damage....

I am just not very good, and fear I never will be an asset to my team, but I do want to be better...if possible.

Are people really using aimbot? Is that why I feel that I suck so much? Or do I actually just really suck?

To suck or not to suck...that is the question. Wheather it is nobler in the mind to just admit you suck or to take arms in a sea of suckiness and by opposing something....

I came over from COD because I was told that there was less cheating here. Is that a myth?

Lots of new questions....but I still would love input on the original questions.

If you go to BF2042/general info on sym.gg it lists damage multipliers for each category of weapon and other useful info about recoil.

Cheating is rare in 2042. People will lead you to think it's out of control but the truth is its far from that. Truth is they just dont understand the game mechanics. Unlike yourself they usually don't want to learn them either.

Also you can host your own aim trainer portal experience that will show you damage numbers at various distances, differing ammo types, and leg, torso, head shot numbers.

Just host your own portal experience and use code NJ7Z when prompted. Make sure you have damage numbers turned on in your settings. Fire away.

Gamepad aimassist often feels like aimbot. when i get lasered in a duel although i started shooting first, it's 99% of time a console player. The bigger problem is that device that emulates a gamepad while playing with a mouse. So they have mouse aim + aimassist. It's cheating but i don't think that can be detected. Then there are mouses that can be programmed with no recoil scripts.

So ye there are cheaters for sure, like in every other online mp game. So far, i haven't seen any obvious cheaters, like a rage aimbot, and the overall experience in this regard is far better then in cod.

regarding the weapons, just try them out and use the one that suits you best. Don't listen what's "meta" and "op". and forget the stats. i for example do more kills with the first ar then with the op meta one. can't hit ♥♥♥♥♥ with it...

No they don't there are very rare cases of cheaters. I personally have never encountered any.
There are simply people out there who can't accept the fact that they got killed by a better player.
But since the game has crossplay, console players do have an aim assist which can be seen as an aimbot, but man...they are using a controller. Let us give them that little help.

Since people have mentioned controllers it's worth noting that controllers benefit from 25% less vertical and horizontal recoil and a 0.75x first shot multiplier. People tend to confuse this with controllers having a strong aim assist which isn't the case.

Game suffers huge desync, console players have an advantage on the network level due to illogical netcode functionality designed by dice.
Most people are clueless about it until it affects you.
Games a giant mess of unreliability, also there are hackers but I've seen the bans issued this last week so that's helping.
Season 6 2weeks after was really really bad.
I just want the desync fixed because it's super bad and artificially inflating some people's kd

Cheaters are aplenty in my Asia region. Last night, I was defending A1 in breakthrough, Discarded, Alang. I was running towards the hangar & suddenly taken down by a headshot from a hostile riding on a pond hawk high in the sky with a PKP-BP LMG. That was an aimbot suspect so I checked the kill log. True enough, the cheater headshotted my mates in rapid continuous fashion. I called out the cheater name, a few of us acknowledged & reported.

I've encountered cheaters hacking with aimbot in many matches, almost on a daily basis. At times others called out the cheater, we acknowledged & reported.

Paik aside. Sometimes, there is a gut feeling that cheaters are hacking with ESP though not blatantly aimbotting as they come up to you at the right moment at our random flanking, rendezvous & holding points.

Play support. You can supply ammo and health and revive. Use smokes. And my suggestion would be a good 2-shot DMR like the SVK or SVD, from a medium range.
Good recipe for being an asset without being in the front =)
