How come no one ever chats in bf2042?

Every game I go into all chat / team / and group chat are dead, I ask questions , try to talk to my team or communicate with my squad 0 responses.

In bf4 theres always people ♥♥♥♥ talking and talking up a storm and chatting in general, same thing in bf1 i'd stomp the other team with the von cuck and be accused of cheating and have fun in chat.

Here its completely dead not even my own squad every talks, I only got a few people to talk with after I made a joke on the israel - palestine thing going on, chatted and played until the game ended, that was a week or two ago when 2042 was on sale for $10

What happened?

Add They make BF42 a safespace by removing global chat, killing any kind of fun/taunt, ♥♥♥♥ chat while playing.

There is a global chat.
DICE only made it in such unlogical way that it isn't ON per default. You need to activate it in the menus.

I'm not sure if console players have the ability to chat, and since crossplay is an option lots of people are on PS/Xbox. Having global chat disabled by default is a little silly, but it also gets rid of the people who start bickering back and fourth instead of playing the objectives.

Because most ppl are not interested in real teamplay, and most who usually use the chat are toxic. Also there is zero benefits of winning a game, so there's no reason to push for it, and therefore no one tries to chat - it just triggers people.

Well players in general kinda prefer to communicate via voice anyways, now that being said most people I play with on a daily basis use Discord for chat and voice over, maybe try to get invited into these groups and talk/chat there, might meet good people to play with.

Yeah that's kind of just how it is. In this day and age, in-game chat is for banter or quick comms. If you want to actually have proper communication 99% of the time it's going to be in a third-party app.

around release and for a good while, there was a lot of chatting going on, lots of flaming, but also some attempt at tactics and small talk, but for a while now there is literally noone ever saying anything, I call for ppl to go for the printers in killswitch or w/e and can go for 5-6 maps without anyone else typing a single word

It depends on where you live and if you have crossplay enabled.
If you're from europe, like me, you often encounter matches where it seems like nobody can speak a word in english and granted, that's not exclusive to battlefield.

But i'm 100% convinced that if you have crossplay enabled, all your matches will be filled with borderline brainless pre-teens playing on their family's xbox or playstation aimlessly walking around like Joe Biden after a press conference.

I don't wanna sound like your typical "Pc MaStEr RaCe" guy but the amount of times my called in tank got hijacked by a default skin mackay teammate or when an oblivious falck crouched over my dying body for a full minute while i was begging for a revive,
It just makes me think i'm the only guy playing this game with a functioning brain...

Chat with crossplay on is annoying. Anything I hate more is when I'm trying to play and some xbox/ps player is constantly making noise or they're making stupid remarks no one cares about. Therefore I just mute hem.
