steam says roughly 4000, anyone know what the total players across all platforms might be?

There's no way of knowing, since other platforms don't have the balls like steam to report numbers. I only go by steam numbers, because that's really all there is. Are there more in reality? Yes ofc, but judging by how long it took to get into a matchmaking game during prime hours during limited weekly event, overall numbers are not great.

There are websites which track the overall player numbers (https://activeplayer.io/battlefield-2042/). Last 30 days the total player count has been 451,201.
I don't know how trustworthy the website is as EA has had the total numbers classified for over an year, but the site seem to track a bunch of other games as well so whaddoiknow..

It certainly doesn't feel like the truth when you rumble through half empty lobbies on Friday and Saturday at the prime gaming hours, and end up playing with 10 real players and rest AI, but there could be bugs which cause it or the servers acting up.
