What a joke is that thing?
It's just dumb how agile and fast choppers are. way too easy for them to avoid everything in the game. Not that it really matters, since you cant lock onto them anyway.
In the older bfs you could at least fire the damn thing and they had to react to it. Now they can do whatever they want with 0 risk.
I'm just lvl 34 and cant say if soflam will be any help, but so far I have never seen a teammate mark vwhicles with it so the other launchers can lock on.
I don't get why that unlocks so late. Am I missing something?

How am I supposed to counter those losers that only fly?

Soflam works great but the problem is you need 1 person to use the soflam, 1 person to shoot and 1 person to refill ammo for it to be used effectively.
And sadly, since it's like that, you almost never see a random dude using soflam.

Works great when you're 3 ppl on discord however.
Gives crappy xp though, so if you want to grind xp for battlepass it's not worth it.

i just try to farm levels right now to unlock all the gear.
so its just gonna stay crappy forever? air vehicles were always op in battlefield, why do work so hard to please the 2 guys flying when the other 60 players suffer for it.
The rocket you can steer sometimes work, but still no chance if they know you coming cause they can dive instantly and at insane speed

At least with the new patch coming soon you can fire back at the nightbird with common ammo, and the nightbird get a little less powerful unless they come closer.
Same with stealth chopper iirc.

But yeah, a sweaty heli is hard to beat alone, you will need a team effort. And I do mean a real effort.

It's the flares. They break lock for way too long. The fact that flares have NEVER been nerfed it pisses me off.

You can use Rao and pester the helis with your gadget.

The soflam is also pretty good at simply causing the pilot to panic and pop their flares.

Or switch to an LMG with AP rounds, again, basically just pestering it (and giving your location away from the stream of tracers coming its way). I'd go with a high ROF LMG like the PKP or Avancys

Lis's TV missile is kind of a hard sell since (correct me if I'm wrong), it won't One Shot the heli. So getting a hit on it is more often than not bittersweet as the heli simply flies off, presses a magic button and self repairs

The Rorsch railgun and NTW .50 also deal heavy damage to helis but they're also both fairly difficult to use with the railgun being slightly less difficult to use and it also has full auto capability

I think OP you don't realize how unrealistically agile anti air missiles are and you actually need skills in piloting to avoid missiles. And that countermeasure air vehicles have is so easy to cheese. To lure the aircrafts to pop the flares and fire the missiles after they used it.
Also not to mention that you can literally oneshot almost all air vehicles with the M5 and the RPG.

Only fighter jets, the sniper drone and the flying bike-thingy are possible to one-shot with M5 and RPG. Helicopters take only 35-45% damage from them.

One engineer can't take heli's down unless there's ammo package right next to them.

thats not true as a main heli player i can tell you m5 also oneshots some helicopters, there are i think 1 or 2 that cant be one-shotted with m5

as for heli´s being OP...thats mostly not the case at all...anti air vehicle, heli´s, jets and infantry of enemy team that can always put a heli down every second shot after shot...you have to be hella good on mouse/keyboard to be able to stay in your helicopter for more than 5-10minuts or use joystick like some no-life people.

Then there are Cheaters..auto tracking/target/shoot and no cd on smokes...there are even some for stealth heli´s to be able to stay in stealth but still use everything...
But the worst of all are those infinite m5 usage as*ho*es.
Trust me every second or third round there is at least 2 of those heli and m5 idio*s.

EA does almost nothing anymore against cheaters in bf2042 sadly, but thats common considering older battlefields it always lasted maybe 3-4 months and then ea gave pretty much up.

Well I love flying the "little bird" and generally what kills me are snipers with suspiciously accurate shots, tanks, and squads dedicated to bringing me down.

Some ways I have been shot down are quite impressive, for example: I was hit with a hack, and a Soflam, followed by 3 AA shots in about 3 seconds. Literally nothing I could do about it. That was 3 shots from 3 different AA engineers. It was the most coordinated effort to bring a vehicle down I had ever seen.

A few other things that work well, that MG Turret placement, a hidden AA Vehicle, and other flying vehicles.

There's multiple ways to bring down vehicles, but most require some lucky timing/positioning or a coordinated effort on the part of your team.

Also if you can set up near the enemy base, most vehicles that have spent their abilities and are damaged will RTB. So you can catch a few without any way to defend against AA.

RPGs destroy helis, practice at leading and waiting till they get close. It's easier then you'd think. Also the jeep, hovercraft and brawler have an optional flak gun that SHREDs helis, especially Nightbirds. You can also equip a PKP + armor piercing rounds that will kill the pilots fast if they're close and aiming at you. Just aim for the right side of the window. Oh and use TGMs if they like to hang further out. Stingers are a noob trap, they're only good for annoying pilots so they're forced to retreat for a little bit.

False, the RPG can one shot everything but the transport helis (Condor and Super-Hind). I've done it hundreds if not thousands of times.

You sure? Cause the M5 surely doesnt. Even the dronebike it cant take out with a single blow. thats pretty pathetic to be honest.
I really had my hopes up for the NTW-50, but of course those got shattered again once i unlocked it. The gun made to destroy engine blocks and it takes 5 shots to blow a quad up wow. The heavy rounds dont even do more dmg to the vehicles
