So if you are on Steam and trying to link to your EA Account in order to play BF 2042 and it rejects it - it most likely means that your EA Account has already been linked to another STEAM account and you will need to make another EA Account to link to.
AFAIK this isn't well known and error messages resulting from this do not explain anything at all. The error message I received for this issue on Xbox Game Pass was " :( " - that's all the information they gave me.
Since there's almost no information given on your end it could also be that you don't meet min requirements, you need to DDU and reinstall GPU drivers, Verify game, redownload and reinstall game, etc.
Tried re-linking. Tried re-installing.
Although... when sending the verification code to my cell phone, it was all in Asian characters. Something is fishy, and its the Incompetence of EA.
Steam should not allow people to have 3rd party launchers. If i buy a game on steam and spend the entire night downloading it, I should not have to deal with a incompetent 3rd party.
I decided to get a refund. Yes, I know I could jump through a dozen hoops to be able to play the game at some point, but honestly I just can't be bothered anymore. Maybe it's my age (not 20 anymore and THAT eager to play), maybe it's because I have to fix issues like that for a living at work, but I just want a game that runs without major issues when I click 'Play'. Is that too much to ask for nowadays? Jfc...
I tried sending verification emails to my email, and none of them went though. I made a new account to see if they could at least send emails. Their emails were working just not with my account for some reason. So i figure, i will just buy direct from EA. Its on sale for 9 bucks. I punched in all my info, the game didnt get added to my library. I booted up my new account to see if it was something weird with my account... Got it up and running, I bought the game on my second account, it didnt get added to my library. So i figure the store just is not up and running. But no... that wasn't it. I got a receipt though paypall. I checked my purchase history, but their website gave an error and said to try again later. At this point i was just mad and wanted to do everything i could before contacting customer service.
I went into my task manager. I found out all the file paths of this launcher by right clicking the processes in the task manager. It had the EA app programm and then a EA background service. I stopped all instances of this stupid EA app. I went into the files and deleted all the files for electronic arts and EA. Un-installed the EA app though the control panel. I uninstalled it after a complete wipe of all files, and now its running fine.
All my purchases went though when i did this. So, im out 30 bucks now unless if i can at least get one refund back.
I think this launcher is just BUGGED to H***. I would uninstall, go in and manually delete all the files and wipe your system of any EA files.
Regardless the steam version is just a place holder... If you want to play the game, just buy from EA. You have to have their launcher open regardless so the steam version is just pointless.
I checked my steam account, its the same as the one i bought bf2042,i unlinked and relinked it for good measure, same thing.
