PC crashes upon exit
Just launched BF2042 for the first time since June and it appears to crash my PC every time I exit the game. Anyone else having this issue?

Do you have an Asus motherboard or Asus software installed?

1 check ur RAM (maybe broken, u may didnt notice it be4 since bf2042 is a pretty non-optimized title and needs stable hardware to "eat" this)
2 CPU cooling system (overheating)
3 Window updates\hdd\sdd\nvme drives\reinstall Steam\Origin(or whatever it called nowadays). btw, in the past, most of troubles appeared because of Origin launcher. Not sure they've fixed something nowadays.

I also have the same problem since last week. i7 8700K, RTX 4070ti, 32GB RAM Windows 11. Game installed on SSD. I do use Asus motherboard with the armory software installed.
I have tried to clear my nvidia shader cache and the game cache as well.

Same ryzen 9 7900x3d/rtx3070 asus motherboard. I also tried to close EA anticheat and got a blue screen.

this was not an issue on the previous season, running the exact same hardware

makes 0 sense why would it crash on exiting the game to desktop even before starting a match

I have fixed my problem. The issue seems the new EA anti cheat software is kernel level and it was introduced for the latest season it conflicts with Asus Framework. Usually i play fullscreen or borderless so exit all i get is black screen, but when i used windowed i got BSOD with error "kernel apc pending exit".
There is an EA forum thread about this issue https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Blue-Screen-of-Death-after-closing-BF2042/td-p/13088702

Fixed it by downloading Autoruns software from Microsoft/Sysinternals, and disable 4 Asus drivers:
system32\drivers\AsIO2.sys
system32\drivers\AsIO3.sys
SysWOW64\drivers\AsIO.sys
SysWOW64\drivers\AsUpIO.sys

Then boot up and play, exit backs to desktop as normal.
Slight issue is frequently get windows error pop up Asus Framework, can be ignored for now.
If want to remove error re-enable in autoruns.
This method should work until EA gets their anti-cheat ♥♥♥♥ together.

@Cypress_CH it is best to reply to the original poster.

Guess I'll wait for an update to resolve this. Shouldn't have to disable drivers to prevent a BSOD just for this game
Nash Nov 8, 2023 @ 3:13am
Now i just run command prompt as administrator and type "sc stop asusgio3" to disable the driver anytime instead
arkinguven Nov 13, 2023 @ 9:52am
Is there any solution for this?

January 2024 and it still does it, seems nobody is in a hurry to fix this.

its been fixed for me since November 2023. I don't have to do anything.

Issue still persists.. after Exit.. boom BSOD. Tried it now after the latest update.. played a few games and when I quit the game, I got the BSOD again.. I will not disable any of my mobo software just for 1 EA title to work again.. absolute rubbish. I mean, you would not buy a car and be told by the manufacturer, in order to put it in 1st gear and drive, you have to turn off the aircon... lame but yet practical example..
