New to PC.(Tips are welcome)
Im fairly new to the PC Gaming community and just bought 2042, so i was wondering how you all play on KB&M.(Former Xbox owner). Like how do you get used to it?

if you mean like aiming wise and managing to click the right buttons on the keyboard it is really just practice and muscle memory, if you play bf2042 where u actually have to use mouse and keyboard very very very often it wont take you long to get used to it.

i always use default settings so every game i play has different keybindings for the same movement for crouch as an example is c in battlefield and in other game is Ctrl, i taught myself to actively think what button i press to do an action and actively look at my hands how they are placed (or sorta feeling when they are on that key) and now after 15hours i barely look at my keyboard
If you want a pro tip from a CSGO player, try to use your shoulder for aiming and dont rely on your wrist only, you will get very accurate.(also good because you dont overuse your wrist)

The same way you get used to the xbox controller, practice. Find a solid FOV and sensitivity you like and just play and enjoy what ever FPS game you like. What I like to do for my sensitivity on my mouse is start from one side of my mouse pad and push it to the other side. I like to be able to rotate my character about 1.5-2 rotations on a single swipe. (I also have a big mouse pad so depends on how much space you got)

It was hard when I made the transition too, but if you stick to it, you will realise how crazy accurate you can be when playing FPS games.

After all, your entire arm is working to help you aim down the cross-hair - with controller it's only your thumb.

Tips:

1. Posture, always sit upright - spine straight.
2. Hover your arm, don't rely on your desk to support your member.
3. Play around with your mouses' sensitivity settings.

A good rule of thumb is to go in a solo map if you can, and aim at a fixed point. Try to dial in a mouse sensitivity that let's you do a full 360 in a single arm movement. Mine is about 30cm for a 360.

Once you have that dialed in, and it's comfortable, leave it. Just play and eventually you'll get the muscle memory. It's a little more complicated than that, but that'll get you started.

Welcome. U dont need to play with K&M.
Controller works Native and fine.
You get all the PC benefits like fps and resolution etc and u can use your controller :)

U can get a gaming-keypad, it has a thumb-stick for the WASD keys. I run the Razer Orbweaver (favourite, the Chroma edition has better mechanical keys), I started on the Logitech G13 (good), then the Razer Tartarus V1 (better), and tried the V2 (okay, the V2 is still in production). Azeron makes funky looking keypads but they're expensive to buy & ship, have long delivery time and mixed reviews

i use my desk, there's no other way, i don't run -out of space but because I generally lift the mouse of the pad then sometimes i loose sense (it's a learning thing)

Controller and K&M are technically the same. Couple years ago (BFV days) when I used to play controller I used to drop a lot of kills, same as K&M.

They both work well but in my opinion K&M allows you to react a lot faster than a controller player, which is what I wanted for my playstyle.

Keyboard and mouse wont take long to get used to though, just play the game and in a matter of time you will rather stay on K&M than use a controller (what happened to me).

If you play infantry (like how I do) aim training will help especially for mouse aiming and figure out your mouse sensitivity, depending if your a wrist aimer or arm aimer. In terms of myself, I combined both wrist and arm aiming and found my sensitivity (you can search up the pros and cons of each and find your playstyle accordingly).

Again, just play the game for now and build that muscle memory, it wont take long.

Hope this helps :)

180° for one arm movement is the sweet spot.

lower your mouse sens.

your mouse pad lenght should be a 180 turn. rule of thumb...

aim with your arm not the wrist. (muscle memory)

train on one of the aimtrainers on steam for 100h

get wrecked by gamepad players because they have "aimassist" aka legal aimbot

rip pc master race

Objectively, the best mouse sensitivity is one where it takes between 28 and 40cm/360 (whatever is most comfortable for you in this range)
So if you choose 35 for example, this means that moving your mouse in a straight line for 35 cm should make your character do about one 360 degree turn in the game, so you're looking back at where you started.
This is what most pros use and for good reason, you're able to do large turns with your arm, and then finetine for shots with your hand and fingers.
If it feels like this sensitivity is too slow and you're moving through mud, play with it for a few days and (After suckinf with it for a bit) you'll get used to it, then guarantee you'll be doing better than before.
Higher sensitivity is not better, makes it harder to control fine movements and you'll often overcorrect in close gunfights, causing you to miss

i could never aim with my arm, it's still 'muscle memory' using the wrist, i used to be a musician that probably helps. but if you really don't use your wrist & desk then maybe this 'gun mouse' is for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g19e3ruhzRo&t
i do use my arm a bit when turning more than 180

(For many genre of games in particular FPS)

Hand positioning on keyboard configuration:

1.Middle finger on W-key (also used to press S-key when needed)

2.Index finger on D-key (also used to press the E-key and F-key when needed)

3.Ring finger on A-key (also used to press the Q-key and TAB when needed)

4.Thumb finger is positioned around the SPACEBAR-key and Alt-key (also used for the X C V B Keys when needed)

5.Pinky finger positioned around CTRL key and SHIFT key.
