+ 29 maps compared to 18 new maps and 2 old maps in BF5, while BF2042 only has 11 new maps and 6 old maps from BC2 and BF3
+ less vehicles (especially air vehicles) to die from them
+ you can hear footsteps very well
+ the guns sound better (more impactful)
+ has autobalancing
+ team switching is enabled
+ the operations mode is better, the closes you can get to a war feeling
+ you can turn of TAA (blurry anti aliasing)
+ easy to spot enemies even if TAA is on (not sure why BF5 is so noisy, maybe because of the amount of the vegetation)
+ standard spotting from previous BF games
+ reviving is quick and easy compared to like 2-3s in BF5 (with medic obviously)
+ the process of getting to the server browser is quicker, you don't have to go trough 10 pages or so to get to it
+ bipods on LMGs are very useful the best in any BF game
+ war speeches and infantry charge shouts
+ time to die is longer
+ no quick health pack for every class to cheat death
+ shotguns aren't too strong
+ factions without silly skins
+ sniper scopes up to 10x zoom
+ classes are balanced (sniping and support are useful unlike in BF5 where it's been nerfed, the spotting flare for example is very useful in BF1 but useless in BF5
+ TDM is 24 players max, 32 players in BF5 feels too chaotic
+ time to kill and time to die feels great
+ no blurry sniper scope reticle when moving
+ no sliding around like in BF5, it's normal boots on the ground gameplay
+ no out of the vehicle animations like in BF5 from which you can die
+/- overall more focused around infantry gameplay
- has suppression, means worse gunplay
- sniper sweet spot 1 shoot kill
- specialization slink which reduces your footsteps completely (which is similar to the dead silence perk in COD)
- cheaters
BF5:
+ no suppression, means better gunplay
+ can pick up ammo/health directly from other players back
+/- overall more focused around vehicle gameplay
- time to die is too quick, it can feel like you die almost instantly
- footsteps seem kinda buggy sometimes they work and sometimes they don't it's weird, had too many cases with enemy players sprinting around me and killing me from the back, this never happens in BF1
- ammo/health stations make the concept of classes more irrelevant especially the support class, there's no real reason to play support and recon class as well (as I explained before). As an infantry you also spawn with more ammo than in BF1, again making support class irrelevant
- sniper scopes limited to only 6x zoom (in BF1 you need at least 8x for long distance headshoots)
- vehicles are very strong against infantry
- no Russian maps and only 1 German map (which is just operation Metro from BF3), this is suppose to be a WW2, but it barely resembles it
- insane amount of cheaters, was never this bad in any BF game
- censored chat
So almost everything that was good in BF1 was changed to worse in BF5, the best thing they did for BF5 was just removing the suppression.
BF2042:
+ no suppression, means better gunplay
+ barely any cheaters
+ cross play
+ time to kill and time to die feels better than BF5
+ old spotting is back
- no real factions
- Overwatch like operators with abilities
- silly skins, you literally play as grandma and grandpa
- can't lock frames to 60fps for example, present in previous games
- TAA can't be turned off again, also TAA low is less blurrier than TAA high for some reason
- no resolution scale to improve the sharpness of the game, present in previous games
- censored chat, also no all chat available, meaning you can't talk to the enemy
In general this game is the least immersive, it's just whatever.
Limiting fps by 3rd party software (like MSI afterburner as) adds input lag, so having an in game limiter is necessary, it's fine for singleplayer but for multiplayer where accuracy matters you don't want extra input lag.
2142 was the last GREAT Battlefield game. 3 and 4 is not bad, but it kinda gave a hint what direction these game would take.
1942: with it's awesome mods (Desert combat, Forgotten hope etc) and the scale was much larger than what we got today. Playing Wake Island with planes, carriers, destroyers, tanks, jeeps... Everything! Hell- It even had a mortar/artillery system that was fun..
BF Vietnam: A title often forgotten, it also have
BF2: Still a great game, even though certain elements of the combined arms concept was removed.
2142: Probably the very best Battlefield imo. Seriously: APCs with assault pods, is almost a reason alone to throne it as nr.1
Carrier assault, walkers, fun classes.
BF3 and 4 is ok as mentioned, but 1 and 5 was such a disappointment that i didnt have any expectations for 2042.
1,5 and 2042 are not horrible, they are just a big let-down of a once great franchise.
2042 is like Rainbow six siege, that also got r@ped by developers, by making it a cosplay show..
Yeah and only you and i exist in the world :-/
BF2042 is decent now... I enjoy it. It is like ordering Chicken Parm at Olive Garden.... it isnt the best, but it is decent.
