Engineers vs Armored Vehicles
So I finally bought BF2042 during the current Summer Sale event in hopes years of Early Access made it good. And I was partially right. The game is good, I'm enjoying playing it.

However, after playing Medic for about 7 hours I realized that Armored Vehicles are a key to victory in any Breakthrough game and I noticed that there are no engineers that take care of the "vehicles problem". So as one can imagine I switched to playing Engineer since I do want to win my matches. After running Engineer for about 6-7 hours, I understood why no Engineer player is bothering to waste time trying to take out vehicles.

All it takes is a half-decent armored vehicle crew that will stay back and just fire at the enemy forever to win any Breakthrough game. It is virtually impossible to destroy vehicles as engineers. You need 4-5 direct hits with any AT rocket launcher while having only 2 rockets(maybe 3 for select rocket launchers?) available to you with insane reload times. It takes about 10 seconds to repair a vehicle from an almost destroyed state to full hp while it takes 10+ seconds for 2 hits with any AT rocket launcher due to insane reload times, time to aim and rocket travel time. Moreover, once you hit the vehicle with your AT rocket, your location is automatically marked and that vehicle crew knows where you are. 20% dmg to the vehicle for being completely exposed and almost certainly killed, what is this mechanic? Not to mention your rockets are easily shot down with a machine gun.

Unless you have half a team being engineers and targeting the same vehicle so it gets hit 5 times simultaneously or the driver just drives into enemy positions and gets blown up by C5, that vehicle is virtually unkillable.

By the way, C5 is available to other classes not only Engineers.

How is this still a thing after the game being on the market for how many years? Did people never provide feedback on the matter? Or is this considered appropriate mechanics in the eyes of BF community?

Suggestion to devs if they read those forums:
One thing I think will definitely balance this out is nerfing repair speed. And I mean nerf it to the ground. Repair should in no way outrun damage. I am totally fine with no boost to AT damage, but the vehicle should be forced to retreat to a prolonged period of time for repairs, not just stand there with a single Engineer out-repairing any damage other than C5 done to the vehicle, in most cases even able to out-repair multiple hits at once.

The same goes for repair speed on helicopters, insanely broken as well right now.

That Javelin works pretty well doesn't it? The AP grenade on the SCAR chips away at stuff, too. Both are taking a knife to a tank fight, though. Not really the Javelin, I guess.

Sadly, vehicles are destroyed almost instantly in any close combat situation so most will hang back and rain hell down in support. 2 engis at a distance can still make pretty fast work of an exposed vehicle. Not to mention that elevation+wingsuit+c5 makes it possible to easily take out vehicles even in the enemy spawn.

They did take out vehicle weak points and the varied degrees of armor plating protection that existed in more recent games. It's honestly a step back for both engi and vehicle players, when a single flying squirrel is more dangerous to a tank than an engineer pelting it with rockets in the rear.

Sounds like you had some teams that had no real interest in engaging with vehicles as well - game is filled with medics that don't revive, engis that don't harass vehicles and recon that don't even bother to ping targets. I usually find them on my team, while the enemy team lasers our vehicles with 10 rockets the second they dare to peek.

Exactly. Why is the whole "vs Armored Vehicles" theme based on C5 play only? It's either suicide run/fly into a tank with C5 or the tank will win the map.

The whole thing is that Engineers can ONLY harass the tank. So it's a waste of time, you better off spending that time shooting enemies with your rifle and pushing points control.
