March 4th (2023), game won't launch.
No matter what I try to do, the game WILL NOT LAUNCH. Steam shows the game stops after 3 seconds and every time I try to launch the EA app, it crashes over and over and when it FINALLY DOES RUN, I get a 500 error. "Something Mysterious went wrong, please try again later." Task manager doesn't even show the application opening... What is going on?

Ok, one of these 3 things fixed for me:

-Go into the game folder for 2042 in the 'steamapps' folder and make sure that every BF2042 related .exe is NOT being run as an administrator (uncheck it in properties).
Do the same for all EA app related .exe found in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop then restart PC and try

-Alternatively close Steam and the EA app. Open task manager, look for
'EA Backround Service', end the task. Then go to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop look for the .exe 'EALauncher' right click it and start it FROM THE RIGHT-CLICK MENU as administrator!!! since the checkbox option for it in the properties sometimes doesn't seem to save or work. If the game launches you're fine afterwards and don't need to do all of this again next time.

I was playing for more than a couple hours yesterday no issues, try to boot up the game today and I'm having the exact same issue.

I restarted my PC and also verified the integrity of the game files. Also tried launching from EA desktop. Nothing has worked as of yet.

I tried to find this post before to post the fix, thank you for digging it up. Turns out the problem I was having was with EA's dumb launcher program they replaced Origin with. Once I updated that dumb thing, I no longer had any problems. I hope this helps you too!

Just wanted to note that this fixed the launch issue for me! Went digging for some options and came across this one. Cheers!

There is also one more fix, where you find the Exe of Battlefield and go into it's settings and find the digital signature thing for EA. Downloading that manually also helped with the Instant black screen and crash to desktop moments.

Mine worked by turning of Control Flow Guard from Exploit Settings, windows 11.

I hope that helps! :)
