I was wondering this, too. The word tactical is way over used. Dice thinks they're sounding cool, but that's just stupid.

Over used? There's literally like five guns which hold the term 'tactical' in this game.

They probably meant to call them special weapons but it may be deemed inappropriate for some reason. Three categories would have been better. Short, medium and long range.
