after this last update, the BF that used to use about 50% of my cpu, is now using over 90% of the cpu all the time

my config =
RTX 3060ti
Ryzen 7 5700x
24gb ram

this is happening to me and another friend who has the Ryzen 5 5600, is it happening to anyone else?

I have had my CPU maxed out the whole time this game has been out. i7 9700k on all low settings and i get worse fps now too.
Well...you only have 8 threads.
The 9700K is one of the worst CPUs of the past few years.
Terrible value, terrible performance, terrible price, terrible layout.
Everything about that CPU is trash.

12600k here and the same thing is happening
ssj3nikoli Nov 25, 2022 @ 1:36pm
11700f 100-130fps no prob
caw Nov 25, 2022 @ 2:16pm
game devs makes a game that attempts to take advantage of more than 6 cores

everyone "NO NOT LIKE THAT"
but AAAAUUUGH what u think whats going to happen?

Have an i7-8700k, and I can confirm the same thing is happening to me. CPU is abnormally high while in-game, to the point where I have to alt-tab to quit the game, and my whole computer is slow. Never had a problem like this with the past updates, or even on release, only with the recent Season 3 update.

Hope they fix it soon...

but there was no problem with the fps, but with the cpu consumption, which you are not understanding, the fps remained the same but increased cpu usage by almost 40%

i tried a fix, wanted to set the affinity for the game and basically limit how many cores and threads it can use cuz i'm positive i can continue to pull 100+ fps without the game using all of it but i get "access denied" in task manager, however i can successfully do it with other apps and games just not BF2042.

edit: just been told that any real time config such as setting affinity or process priority wont work cuz easy anti cheat

what a bummer

i7 8700k here, i get 40fps and stuttering with all cores maxed out. i just got the game on sale. i tried it out on gamepass half a year ago and had solid 80+fps.

10700K + 6800XT got same matter
Besides, FPS always drop, stutter then be slow that i cannot move my mouse, so terrible update

I found temporary solutions
1- go to task manager. right click on bf2042. in win 11 i choose go to details. right click again and choose set affinity. you will see a list of the cpu cores allows to run the game and they all checked. uncheck one core to tell the game not to use this core which lead to lower your cpu usage and kill the input lag and stuttering.
2- make a config file in the game folder where your exe locate to tell the game how many cores and threads it can use. Which you can find here

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/BF2042-CPU-Running-At-100-Constantly-For-No-Reason/td-p/10949996/page/58

Note: after they update the game to fix this you need to undo what you just did to fix any conflict you made with the game update that fix the problem

this only makes the performance of the game worse, which is already bad, the thing is to wait for a data to fix

This worked for me, or atleast made things a little smoother. Good temporary fix...
