No, players hated the specialist system because it greatly emphasized solo play over team play, and resulted in horrible balancing issues.
Battlefield 3, my favorite, and Battlefield 4, are the most liked Battlefield games within the series. Furthermore, weapon selection doesn't seem to be affected by this change as far as I am aware.
In an other BF medics that were playing as sniper cause they had healing kits and good rifle selections.
class system put emphasys on papper .scissor .. rules , a basis for balance teamplay :)
when you all specialist that can pick all weapons/utility/gadget what's the point to get teamate . just some few ewample .
avoid sniper camping , with amno supply
if i was EA , i'll get more restriction , only 2 attachements for weapon in-game : stop the all rounder weapon . like as the BSVM
but all recents news from EA show , BF 2042 was out too early , when you see they're thinking rewords all map and back to focus on infantry , its may be a good sign .
the sad thing , no official statement on improvement performance
They listened to the majority of the fan base that wasn't happy about the stat of the game and the direction it was going in. It was obviously concerning to them that the older titles were doing way better with player count than the new pile of poo they tried feeding everyone. What can I say other than some people like to eat poo.
The current specialist system allows for further being able to avoid ever helping out teammates in comparison. Why need teammates when you can just fill in all of the roles that you need on your own because of specialists specifically? If you can fly around with anti air, anti vehicle, and be able to see through literal walls, all while still being able to have either health or ammo of some kind along with any selection of weapons that the player so chooses, then what is even the point of teamwork at all? Specialists are a fundamental core issue with the game, and even with the complete redesign for how they work, the specialist abilities still have to either be blatantly overpowered beyond belief in comparison to gadgets, or when they are mediocre, that no one would want to use them or just use some type of gadget to replace that specific specialist ability for another. Specialists have always been horribly balanced, some of the specialists being so overpowered it honestly feels game breaking, and it greatly deteriorates team play, along with other things, like the immersion of the game and what not. Specialists are a fundamental core issue with the game.
I get that split, but separating Angel and Recoilless AT is a painful change. Same with McKay, grappling hook allowed him to ambush well. And I can't wait to see EVEN LESS AT-wielding people simply because they want the other specialist (or his power, like Crapdance).
Tanks will run rampart once again... ehhh. Still, interesting how it'll affect the gameplay... wish there would be an option to choose whether you wanna play with class restrictions or not (hopefully that comes at least in Portal), but "Exposure 24/7" playlist period showed me that people are too oblivious to even investigate on how to change what you're playing, so I'm pretty sure noone would play other mode (+ somehow whiners opinions shape the public opinion pretty heavily, which already did a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage to this game).
You do realize this is BATTLEFIELD, the franchise of BATTLEFIELD, not call of duty right?
It has ALWAYS been this way, and to say the changes made to make the game feel like it's older self is bad, you sir are so clearly clowning.
The general public SH4T THEIR PANTS over no VOIP. Guess how many times I've heard VOIP used since it was introduced, even when the game populace peaked at Season 1?
2. 2 times people actually said anything via the VOIP. It was sure worth all the development hassle, no? So yeah. Be sure to press for more changes NOBODY WILL ADAPT to and the people will start ragequitting because "muh trve BF experience" crowd will drive team balance into the ground even further. Can't wait to hear your cries that nobody drops ammo or especially, that nobody gangs up on that pesky tank that keeps killing your worthless ass.
Unless you people are actual masochists and simply like it when matches suck. Because, newsflash - game design is one thing, how people adapt to it is another.
