Excessive loading times
Since the last updates over the many months, my performance has improved back to what it was in beta/early launch, which is cool. No idea what they did.

But now it appears there are ridiculous loading times.

I start the game and a black window opens in the top-left for about 10 minutes, which then sometimes*(hangs forever sometimes) opens the game to the yellow season splash screen for about 5-10 minutes. This later brings me to the main menu, now I load into a game which is another 5-10 minute wait and in some cases literally hours.

My hardware definitely isn't the problem here, as it runs fine, it just loads forever. During this time however during "loading" my disk usage is 0% and this is on a m.2 drive. Only my CPU is partially being used.

In these cases I typically get into games and they're already over or I don't get into them at all.

Given my info above, has anyone else been experiencing this? Is there a workaround or solution?

Would appreciate any help here.

Have you verified your files / tried a re-install? Current drivers, no malware etc?

Could also be the region you're playing in as far as finding games to join.

I have verified the files, and in some cases this caused longer loading times, no idea why. I reinstalled once already, doing it again now. Defo no malware.

Region wise i'm in Canada BC.

That's rather odd. There any chance you're being routed through a bad node which could cause extended connectivity issues? :steamdeadpan:

No idea, connection wise on my end everything appears fine, great speeds and all.

I also just reinstalled and deleted any BF2042 files in documents to be safe. Same issues so far.

I'm running out of ideas to fix this.

I also always have a steam cloud error that I can't seem to get rid of as well. Related?

This issue and whatever other issues could be related are also only exclusive to BF2042. Just for clarity here.

edit: in the crashdump folder apparently my game is "stalling" working on finding the issue atm.

Have you gone into your BF2042 cache folder in MyDocs and cleaned that out?

Err a long shot but
Open command prompt as admin type sfc /scannow
In case something went wonky

And depending gpu, try roll back driver as some say latest cause issues

Long shot indeed, I did the sfc, and restarted and it didn't affect anything.

If I restart, the game launches faster but in game loading times are always around 10 minutes. Then if I close the game and start it again the launch takes even longer 15 minutes or longer.

I quite literally can't play the game in this state, unless I like waiting ~30 minutes to launch the game and get into a game that is almost done. Even when the game is done and it loads to the menu it still takes a little over 10 minutes to load the fricken menu.

It's beyond retarded. I've done some other troubleshooting steps to no avail. No idea what to do now.

Dumb questions:

-BF2042 is allowed through your firewall?
-You're not having any throttling of any kind (connection or otherwise)?
-This happening with any other title?

-Yes
and
-No

The thing that is bothering me is why the game takes longer to load after the first launch, along with, obviously, the stupid loading times in-game afterward whether it be going in a game or loading to the menu.

I just don't know what the game is doing or struggling to do.

I've even contacted EA support about this as well, but they didn't help in any meaningful capacity. I'll possibly reach out again and get a better agent this time.

It almost sounds like your drive / RAM is "stalling out" or hitting some weird wall. But if it was a RAM issue then your entire OS would be having issues.

Could you try running BOTH Origin and BF2042 in Administrator Mode.

Yeah, that's a thought. But as obvious of a problem that would be if it were system wide, it is just exclusive to BF2042.

Okies! From what I could find, some folks had luck running both with admin permissions.
