There are always players online in steam so saying it is bad is or is at least partially subjective, not exclusively objective. The OP has to decide if they are going to play and wait for more content and fixes into next year. The game can be fun for me although I understand the complaints also.
NB: - Your last paragraph sort or reiterated my suggestion of viewing online reviews and gameplay so I don't see how you added anything there that I hadn't already.
In Feb Elden Ring will be out so if you are also a fan of Dark RPG's Battlefield might be in the backburner. As is without squad or command voice chat the game is pretty lonely.
