Go play Call Of Duty Warzone its free and 10x better than this ♥♥♥♥ box.
Change your email password asap, contact EA possibly through phone (if phone support is available in your region).
Thanks but I don't need to take advice from a COD simp, this is literally the opposite of a solution for me
That's what I'm thinking, I changed all my passwords associated with that email and have not had suspicious activity since. I'll try and see if there's a number I can call. Thank you for actually giving me advice
even if someone else cheats on your account the liability will remain with you.
I understand that, but its not an air tight system. If they can verify that the owner of the account was not the one infringing the TOA's, then I feel like appealing could clear this up.
Pretty much ^
Not just that, but if you have 2fa on your account ( authenticator app ) There is zero possibility of account being hijacked.
My only guess is OP did not have 2FA on the account which undoubtedly made it easier.
Sadly, Even if it was not you whom cheated, The system DID correctly detect a cheat and thus the ban was valid despite it not being you OP.
I would say open a ban dispute and explain the situation with them but I wouldn't hold any hopes of the ban being reversed, As above.. cheats were detected and thus the ban is correctly applied.
Yup you're right, I didn't have 2FA set up. I really hope there's some way to mediate this through an appeal.
I mean, If you had 2FA set up then you could probably contest it as you'd have done everything within your power to ensure your account was secured and you could then claim the 2FA didn't protect you as it should have.
I hate to say it, But it's probably game over.
You COULD still contact EA and go through everything in full detail, Explain everything as best you can ( including taking screenshots of any emails related to the password / username changes etc that you did not request and attaching them to the case ) and also take the time NOW to secure your account with 2FA in the event they do overturn the ban.
However hopeless it seems, There's always the off chance they will see login attempts and successful logins from different regions and then unban the account once the account is fully secured.
You can start the appeal procedure from Here
Remember to take screenshots of the emails you received ( if you haven't cleared the trash folder even deleted emails should be there still assuming your email provider doesn't automatically delete after X days )
yea 2factor is pretty much a must these days.
it's far to easy to phish passwords and accounts.
you may get lucky, but more often than not the above is true.
there may be a way to prove your location, with ip address, but anyone can use a vpn these days. that's the issue. so unless the hacker used your account to buy something (someone did that before with another issue like this stupidly so that was resolved for them, on xbox though) it's unlikely.
you could try getting a refund on bf2042 and rebuying it on a second account. i know it sucks. but it might be the best option to safe you the most money.
Doing that wouldn't help him though, As above, A cheat was detected on the account.
It doesn't matter if it was the owner that cheated, All the anticheat and EA's terms of service team sees is that the account was found to be cheating and so in their eyes, For all intents and purposes the ban was justified, He needs to argue his case and try to have them overturn the ban and only do so once the account is fully protected, 2FA included.
His absolute best bet is to appeal and tell them that he didn't have 2FA enabled and that in the weeks prior he received an email(s) confirming account changes he didn't request but had deleted it/them thinking it was spam ( reasonable enough IMHO since I often mistake some legitimate emails as spam or phishing attempts too )
Are you sure its a ban for cheats - if someone got into your account and it was suspicious it could also be a "safety account lock" etc.
Just contact EA directly - this is not a steam issue. Find out what happened and maybe you will get your account unbanned - i think they have a "ticket" system on their support site.
Also try to always have a different password for your e-mail than for your other accounts if you didnt do that already - its way more secure.
