Origin vs Steam?

Does anyone know why you would get this on Origin vs Steam?

from what i see both platforms offer the exact same thing and the price is the exact same aswell

does anyone know if there are any differences?

o i did find out 1 difference as to way you may get it on Origin.

If you are subbed to the monthly EA Play thing they do, apparently you get 10% discount
That pretty substantial if you are going for the ultimate edition

I had a lot of steam wallet money from gift cards, card sales & a few refunds. Only paid about $5 for gold edition.

The game gets linked to your eA origin account anyway and runs off it so it doesn't matter where you buy it unless like me you have something specific that makes one or the other better.

I don't think it even needs steam to run if you buy it here, just launch on origin anyway.

You'll just need to hit the play button in steam.

Or you can link your steam to origin (if you have an EA account already) by getting Apex on your steam account then logging into the EA account when you start it. 2042 will then show up in Origin as it links the Steam to the EA account.

I want to let people see my hours played, also my friends see me play.

You can do that though by adding it to steam as a non steam game, same dealio really.

origin shows hours played too but only to your origin friends.

That said, websites such as battlefield tracker also displays hours played and various other stats ( k/d, win/loss, best / commonly used class, game reports and so on ) so you could theoretically just pin a shortcut url to your steam profile with your gamertag already applied.

I'm tempted to add 2042 as a non steam game so folks can see I'm playing, idk if steam broadcasting would work that way though.. I'll have to test that later.

Non-Steam games don't track hours on Steam and Origin hours are only shown in your library and not your friend list.

If you get it on Steam you still get on Origin but opening the game in Origin will open it on Steam. On Steam you get trading cards that is literally the only difference.

I plan on getting it from steam. Main reason, I want steam to take money away from EA. I love BF games, but imo, EA as a company is... Well you know.

Go for origin, there you can get a cheap key instead of payin these high prices in stores.
