Frustrating resolution (heavy spoilers ahead)
First off, I want to express how great the game is. I absolutely loved it. The graphics, the design, the story. I had a blast!

But I'm extremely frustrated. On day 5, I knew who was the murderer, yet the game never allowed me to put them in prison.

On the first three days, I never got the chance to greet the murderer.
At the end of day 3, I met every single person except the murderer, that I was planning on greeting the 4th day. Day 4 and 5 they just wouldn't allow me to enter their house. I couldn't get any warrant to search their house since I never was able to enter his home. Same at the end, I figured out who it was (all other people were clearly innocent), yet couldn't even ask the police lady to fetch them and put them in prison since I didn't get the chance to talk to them during my playthrough.

This is such a bad ending for such a great game.

You should either:
- Be able to ask for a warrant for homes you didn't enter, at the very least for the 5th day.
- Ensure the door can't be closed on both day 4 and day 5 if you haven't entered the house yet.
- Be able to ask the police lady at the end to arrest anyone. Just display the name and a question mark instead of the face if you haven't met them.

In both cases, I think there should be a third ending, where you actually imprison the right person, but you don't have the evidence & the reasoning so can't prove it and they get freed.
But at least there wouldn't be a third murder.

I get that I probably had a VERY SPECIFIC edge case, but I feel heartbroken. I was loving the game, and now I'm very sad it ended this way.

Hey! You're absolutely right. That does sound very frustrating. Can you help me figure out what went wrong here? Did you make any arrests during your first 3 days?

My goal was to try to speak and mindsurf every single character as soon as possible.

On day 1, I went to the bar first, found Reuben but for some reason didn't mindsurf him. I then went to the hostel, where I found Adam and mindsurfed him. Downstairs I found Sean and mindsurfed him. I investigated Rebecca's garden and found what I thought was compost, locked. I thought "Who in their right mind would lock compost??" but did not have time left to get the keys.
Didn't arrest anyone as I had no real clues at the time (Reuben and Sean told contradicting info, one being at his house, the other saying they were in the woods, but I didn't know who was lying)

On day 2, I started by talking and mindsurfing Josh. I asked him for directions in the woods and found the grave at the viewpoint. I then headed to the gift shop, where I saw Sean and Josh speaking. Checked a few items, then I headed to Robin and Paul's house. I mindsurfed both of them succesfully (even though it was mentioned Paul would be hard to mindsurf, I was very proud :)) I then headed to Sean and Olivia's house. I tried to mindsurf Olivia but failed both time. I had no time left.
From Olivia's attitude, I smelled she hated Rebecca. She was acting like they were friends, but I just felt something and decided to arrest her, ending the day.
I asked for a search warrant for Sean and Olivia's house.

Day 3, Sean was killed, so I knew Olivia was innocent. I headed to Benji's house, trying to find new people. There I talked to Benji, Zach and Alex, and mindsurfed all three of them. I decided the search warrant would not be wasted, so I investigated Olivia's house but only found the 8000$ bill that Sean needed to pay. (I already knew about the 10000$ threat note with Rebecca). I finally got the key and checked the compost, and found coke in there. I then headed to the bar, as Reuben info was contradicting Sean's but Reuben refused to speak.
I arrested him, hoping he would speak once imprisoned.
I wanted a search warrant for Gabe's house as I was starting to become suspicious, but the game didn't let me as I had not yet visited Gabe's house.
I thus asked for a search warrant for Benji's house, as I knew Alex was very close to Sean and it could maybe help.

Day 4, I found the one guy that was out of town. For some reason I did not mindsurf him.
I knocked at Gabe's house but no one answered. These were the only people left to greet, so I was a bit frustrated. I searched Benji's house and found a Alex's note mentioning the killer being either Adam, Olivia, Josh or Gabe. I knew it wasn't Olivia, Adam I had excluded as his truth showed him very lost and unhappy because of Rebecca's death, Josh seemed too chill and excited about the volcanic rock so I just felt it couldn't be him. Gabe was becoming very suspicious, especially since he was refusing to open the door.
I found the hidden lab in the woods but didn't have much left to check. I really needed to enter Gabe's house on day 5!
I didn't arrest anyone, keeping Reuben imprisoned even though I knew it couldn't be him as he was locked in the bar when Sean was killed (Josh confirmed it when I spoke to him).
I wanted a warrant for Gabe's house but, again, the game wouldn't let me do it.

Day 5. I headed to Gabe's house again, and he refused to open once again.
I thought maybe he wasn't home, so I searched every house and even went back to the viewpoint in the woods, but to no avail. I thought "That's ok, I'll just ask the police lady to arrest him for me, then he'll have to speak!" but she wouldn't let me do it. Frustrated, I ended the day, knowing it was Gabe but also knowing I just couldn't arrest him.

I then witnessed Alex's death, it felt terrible. I knew exactly who did it, and why they did it, but couldn't do anything. Poor lady

Looking back, I definitely misplayed here and there, but my playthrough doesn't seem that far off-track.
I wish Gabe couldn't lock his door on day 4 and 5. That's really what messed up everything. If I had been able to visit him on day 4, then I'd have a search warrant on day 5 and I would have arrested him.

Thank you for your very detailed answer. You’re right that this is a bit of an edge case. There should be consequences for arresting people, but it shouldn’t lock you out of arresting the right person if you know who it is. I’ll make sure this gets fixed!

Thank you very much <3

This game is still in the top 3 of the best games I've played this year, I'll still gladly recommend it to all my friends!
