Apartment options

Hello, I vividly remember from playing as a child, that I lived in the apartment in the middle of the church square, the priest rented it to me. However, now replaying (10+ years later) I can't seem to get the priest to offer the aparment to me. Any ideas?

PS: it was the best apartment, and it even had a cat!

The apartment options depend on whether you left for Paris or not on chapter 1. The cat can be adopted later tho (i think)
