Is the only way to get them is doing hardcore levels?

Yes, for the in game store you neeed to complete the red levels. Also multiplayer gives red points, if im correct. Like if you play my ''S'' levels, i think it may gives red points. I don´t remember anymore.

I've done a number of hardcore levels and beaten SSS, SS and S rank community levels but when I go to the shop I still only see blue credits. Should it show red ones there too? Do I need to beat all hardcore levels before I can get any red ones?

Edit: I worked it out. For anyone else wondering. You can't earn them in ambience mode (even if you'd have been fast enough to avoid the death wall anyway). I turned off death wall for a particularly stupid SSS level and forgot to put it back on.
