Widescreen fix

I wrote a little fix, which should apply letter and pillar boxing to display the games 16:9.4 image without stretching on any resolution.

Just drop the files in the zip in the same Directory as the BGE exe. Also if you've changed the NoBands value in the registry, you should change it back to 0.

If you get an Error message like "DirectX 9 was not installed properly" or "This application has failed to start because D3DX9_43DLL was not found ", you first need to run DXSetup in the Redist subfolder.

I've also included a way to overwrite the game's resolution setting, which might help the people having issues under Windows 8, though i haven't tested it since I don't use Windows 8. Just change the value bUseOverwrite in d3d9 ini to true and setX and setY to your desired resolution. Antialiasing has to be disabled in the games settings for this to work.

Update 07.04.2016:
You now can force borderless windowed mode by setting the option "bBorderlessWindow" in d3d9.ini to true. This should also fix the issue where the HUD breaks after using Alt-Tab.

New version that fixes shadows not being displayed.

Update 15.06.2017:
The download now includes BGEResolutionSettings.exe which allows you to change the resolution setting. For the Steam version you might have to launch the game once in order for the setup to be completed before you can change the resolution.

Yeah, I've installed the latest DXSetup and the one provided. What happens is that as soon as you start the game it crashes, pretty much doesn't load at all.

Turns out Evolve was making the fix for BG&E crash, so if anyone is having issues, make sure that any application that provides an in-game overlay or something like that isn't interfering with the game. Evolve was crashing not only BG&E, but Vanity Pack for Burnout Paradise and Airfix Dogfighter. MAFIA was also having issues with Evolve as well. So no doubt Evolve could be having a negative effect on many other games. The fix is quite simple, just quit Evolve while playing that game, and start it up again after if you use it often.

So there's no way to open the games aspect to 21:9? Shame, the Dolphin emulator with black bars at 1920x1080 is the equivalent of 21:9, but it runs like crap. Any new discoveries in 2015?

Thank you, the huge black bands were disturbing me haha
Now i have two small black bands on the sides but it's okay they are pretty little, and I think it's to correct the aspect ratio. Whatever i'm fine thank you again man :)

So I've tried the widescreen Fix, too.
Somehow, every single text, starting with that one from the language selection plus mainmenu, just disappears. Same for inventory objects and the entire HUD.
Don't know why this happens. Only occurs with widescreen fix applied....

couldn't resolve this so far... (compatibility mode, changing nvidia settings manually,...,)

Someone has the same issue?

About my system:
GTX 460, Win 7, running on 1680x1050@120hz.

EDIT: Got it. My second screen/overlays caused the problem. just open bge.exe properties, go to "compability" and check "disable desktop composition"

Thanks for the fix it works perfectly but when I use Alt-Tab and I return to the game the HUD has some bugs
